RE: Iceland Geyser Fun (Day 2)

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

The weather is finicky in Iceland, or I believe it is. Sometimes it barely snows until and even during christmas. Everyone thinks the winters are getting milder. Then again, it can snow even after "First Day of Summer"(18th april+) and most keep their tyres nailed a little into the summer, just in case. Even if there isn't much snow or ice, just a few minutes up a mountain can reveal a completely different story.

Snow comes in may shapes and forms. The almost dry snow is best and most fun. Wet snow is just a cleaner version of mud, very dry snow is sandy and doesn't hold together well for a snowball.

FYI, it's expensive here. Don't buy the water, the tap water is the best in the world, or so an expert said and staked his reputation on. In any case, it's pretty good and healthy.

Oh yeah... I remember the shirt on sale there:

"Don't like the weather? Just wait 5 minutes"

:) So true
