Deir El-Sultan An Unique Ethiopian Monastery Built On The Roof Of A Church In Jerusalem
Built on the roof of the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, the Orthodox of Ethiopia has maintained a presence in Jerusalem for over 1500 years. This was maintained through the faith of the monks from a humble monastery that was built on another denominations roof. The faith of each monk is what keeps this monastery secure in world of extreme politics.

The monks are very wise people. And what a great structure, I have a friend in Jerusalem right now, she's traveling, she was my neighbor !
Thanks @jokossita the whole area with rich history is a great experience.
Can't imagine, is such a spiritual place with so many things and details. Hope I can go someday. Thanks for sharing :)
Yes, Thanka @jokossita
Thanks for sharing. I have been to the Old City several times yet did not know about this monastery. From reading the Wikipedia entry I see there is an ownership dispute between the Ethiopian and Coptic Orthodox churches. Interesting.

This Monastry belongs to the Coptic Church of Egypt but the Israeli Authorities gave it to the Ethiopian Church in 1970, and in return the Ethiopian Authorities grant Israel a land to build a military Base.
Yes so much history yet not without controversy.
Beautiful Photo. Can see so many history imprinted into the walls of this building, hence decorating it and enhancing it's natural beauty.
Nice photo! I'd love to visit Jerusalem sometime!
