Mount St. Helens is an active and rumbling volcano in the Cascade Mountains of Washington. She last had a major eruption in 1980, but she is currently rumbling, spewing steam, and recharging. She is a volcano wanting to blow again, but for the moment, she is not posing any immediate threat. However this stately and majestic volcano is constantly monitored for signs of her next major event.
Mount Saint Helens Is Busy Recharging
Mount Saint Helens forever changed the looks of the mountain and her neighborhood for many years to come. She was the first of the West Coast volcanoes to blow since 1915,

Hiking Mount Saint Helens
Most people who desire to hike Mount Saint Helens enter through the Gifford Pinchot National Forest in Washington. Usually climbers choose to take the Monitor Ridge Trail to the top. This is a short 5 mile hike, but it gains over 4,500 feet in elevation. This is a great hike for those with experience, as well as novice hikers that are in really great physical shape. There will be large boulders to scale and it is steep, but when you reach the top, it is all worth it. The view is spectacular!
Those desiring something not so physical can enjoy watching the volcano from the Windy Ridge Observation Deck. Photographers love take every chance to photograph this amazing volcano. Johnston Ridge Visitor's Center has a lot of information and live video. But the best view of all comes from the air! There are helicopter tours for those who really want to see the complete picture. Thanks @shanta7.
This is just a fantastic shot of Mt. St. Helens! She reminds me of our very own perfect cone-shape volcano, Mt. Mayon, which is also rumbling and wanting to blow again.
Thanks @gingbabida.
