1.The Silfra Rift

This place might just be that place that makes it clear how truly small and insignificant we are. Island Silfra Rift is a deep crack in the ocean that goes down between the North American and Eurasian continents and brings to light the powerful geological processes that occur on a planet.
The two tectonic plates are slowly moving apart which is created this cap that is a popular site for diversity to visit. Not only you can touch two continents in the same place, but the water clarity here is extraordinary. You can see down more than 300 feet in some places.
This creates a surreal experience and one that is daunting as it is spectacular. The movement of the plates also results in an earthquake once every 10 years. So, you just better hope you are down there the next time when strikes.

2.The Rainbow Mountains

There many astonishing geological sites in the world, but none are more mysterious and unexpected as the Rainbow Mountains. Affectionately referred to as the Rainbow Mountains, from these images is clear to see why. The landscape is splattered with color almost like a painting and it draws thousands of tourists each year to see its beauty.

While some of the pictures of the original are incredible, most of them have been subjected to color filters to make them stand out even further. Despite this, the colors are still rich and it's hardly necessary to alter the true views in any way. The reason why the mountains have developed like this is because of continual layers of mineral deposits that have been leftover millions of years. 15 million years ago when the island (now present in India) crashed into the continent and revealed all of the different layers to create the spectacular scenes we see today.

3.Cano Cristales

Colombia’s Cano Cristales or the ‘’Crystal Channel’’ is often referred to as the liquid rainbow. It's a river like no other in the world and until the 2000s was completely inaccessible because of guerrilla activity in the region. Now though, the Colombian military has secured the nearby town of la Macarena which has opened up the tourism industry for those wanting to be enraptured by the spectacular sight.
The reason this place feels so special and mysterious is not as you may have initially thought. The brilliant color of the river is produced by an aquatic plant called Macarenia Clavigera. To grow this plant needs very precise conditions such as the perfect water level an amount of sunlight. When it receives them, it blooms produce a wide range of vibrant colors and gives the river its stunning appearance. The plants are most commonly red color but they can also be blue, yellow, orange or bright green.
As you can imagine, the locals who lived nearby have for centuries heard superstitions about the river and take great pride in it. Recently the effects of tourism are devastating for the delicate flowers. Environmental impact rules have now been brought in that limited daily number of visitors to 200, and they are strictly kept away from disturbing the plants. They are not allowed to enter the waters while wearing insect repellent or sunscreen and, of course, you are supposed not to leave any garbage anywhere around the area.

4.Giant Crystal Cave

While we are trying to understand what happens on the surface of the planet, very little is known about what happens underneath it. At the turn of the century, two minors from Mexico who were searching for led made an unbelievable discovery – a cave full of giant crystals. Formed from gypsum, these crystals would have slowly grown over hundreds of thousands of years with some of them stretching more than 35 feet long.
The crystals used to be covered in water, but a huge area was drained in 1975 to allow for mining operations. This is when the crystal stop growing because it's what they originally formed because of superheated water that passes with a cave and was saturated with minerals. The cave system at 950 feet below the surface is large enough to drive a car through, but this place is steaming hot.
The extreme temperatures caused by a nearby hot spring make it impossible to stay down there for longer than 10 minutes. This is made further exploration very tricky and it's still unknown why the crystals formed as such strange angles or what other secrets might be buried down there.

5.The Glowing Sea of Vaadhoo Island

The Maldives is one of the hottest and beautiful places on earth, but at night-time, the Island of Vaadhoo reveals one of its secrets that makes the speeches truly unique. The island only has 500 permanent residents. The sand on the beaches though is full of Plankton which at night-time emit an airy blue glow that lights up the ocean.
This bioluminescence occurs as a side effect of the phytoplankton production of toxins that are poisonous to fish, other animals and humans. In an attempt to prevent being eaten, they synthesize these colorful toxins; and even if the plankton was eaten by a fish, it will continue to grow inside its belly. That thing would reduce the fish's chances of hiding from predators. That’s a very interesting and at the time hilarious method of protection.

6.Spotted Lake Kliluk

Located between the Okanagan and Similkameen Valleys in British Columbia's desert, the Spotted Lake (also known as ‘’Kliluk’’) is one of the most bizarre places on earth. It contains large quantities of magnesium sulfate, calcium, and sodium sulfate as well as various other minerals and elements such as silver in titanium.
The unusual thing about this place is that during the summer as the liquid evaporates, large pools of these deposits are left on the ground which forms this unusual spotted pattern. During the summer months is possible to walk along the dry lake bed in between these large circular spots. It has been an important feature in the region for thousands of years and was known as Kliluk by the first people who live nearby. The people lived there to use it as a source of medicine to heal the wounds.
