Beauty of Old Mountain: Water is source of all life (My Travel Blog)

A little walk through Old Mountain - part #4

"Water is the driving force of all nature."

- Leonardo da Vinci

Water was always my element. Even though I climb mountains and ride roads, if there is no water on that route, I am not complete. Without waterfall, river, lake, sea, small spring or at least snow or ice at the end of that trip, something is missing.

That's probably why I adore Old Mountain. There is so much water. Even when you are walking across rocky mountain slope, you can hear water whispering and talking beneath you. You can feel it in the air even during hottest summer days. It's there, just waiting for you to find her.

Old, peaceful rocky dam has something to teach younger concrete cousins - at least how to be beautiful. Even though, at places like this, you cannot hear yourself thanks to mighty roar of river, you are completely relaxed and have feeling of complete peace and unreal calmness.

And when you are sure that you have seen everything for that day, just around corner you may find another river, another waterfall, another place to enjoy.

It should be not so surprising with fact that more than 50% of all waterfalls in Serbia are located in Old Mountain... but it is. You simply do not expect so much beauty in one place. You do not expect another one spectacular view just few minutes after previous one.

Today we were walking on very small area near Temska village. If you are in hurry, these places can be visited in less than a hour. Not that I suggest that you should be in hurry when you are visiting Old Mountain. Quite opposite - take all time you need to enjoy clean air and quiet roar of the rivers around you.

“Earth and sky, woods and fields, lakes and rivers, the mountain and the sea, are excellent schoolmasters, and teach some of us more that what we could learn from books.”

– John Lubbock

Part #1 -Amazing Canyon of Rosomac River
If you missed first part of our little walk across Old Mountain and story about another stunningly beautiful place Canyon of river Rosomac, you can find it here. It is a travel into one of most surprising places on Old Mountain, and a view of another untouched beauty of nature this area has to offer.
You may also click on photo to reach Rosomac Canyon blog entry.

Part #2 - Unbeliveable beauty of spring Jelovicko Vrelo
In our second day we visited place from some other planet - Jelovicko Vrelo. It looks more like scene from Elfish Kingdom than something quietly pampered in one, almost urban corner of Old Mountain. To reach beauty of this amazing place click here or at a photo of watery spring.

Part #3 - Just exploring
Touch of wild beauty. On third part of out travels across Old Mountain, we simply walk around. You may witness some amazing places and pure natural beauty, while reading about what outdoor means for me and how I believe anyone should experience it. A little ode to modern society and how this monumental place can bring you to another level of knowing yourself and Nature around you.

If you like what you seen so far, stay tuned, our travel across Old Mountain is not over yet ;)

The water has its way with the land and it is beautiful. Nice!

You should definitely try long exposure there. That will change this place dramatically :)

Yes, next time when I am there, for sure. For that trip I didn't bring my main gear, and all I could do was to improvise with compact camera I had :)
