Hello dear steemit friends,
I would like to share one of my travel experience with you. I am working in Middle-East Asia now. I decided to visit the nothern part of India. I wanted this trip to be different so i decided that i will keep it to the mimimum. So instead of taking a taxi to the airport, i chose bus. And thats how it started.
The trip starts
Boarding
Almost 5 hours of travel, reached Delhi.
This is the first thing i saw at the airport. Not a nice welcome? lol
Art in Delhi Metro station.
According to the new rule, you need to have a local address proof and a local mobile number to get a SIM. And I dint know a single soul there. That means no internet and no phone contact. FYI telephone booth went extinct. People won't let you use their phone for obvious reasons. I had no way to contact my family and just let them know i reacherd India.
Waiting for the metro having no idea what to do
I decided to go forward any way. My bus to Shimla is at night. Thats one full day to explore Delhi. I wanted to go to India Gate first. Need to take a metro and then a local train to get there.
In Metro
Local Train Station
I waited for around 45 minutes in que and then the guy decided to take his break. I was only 2 guys behind to get to the counter. Obviously i tried to get in to the front of que next to me. People at the next que was like.. ''Not here.. Go to the back of the q if you want'.' That was the beginning of a fight I suppose. I decided to get out of that place.
Uff...
Much needed a tea.
Proper information actually costs in Delhi. Nobody got time. Made a quick friendly relation with a girl who represented a possibly fake charity organization. She asked for 150 Rs for the poor kids. Gave her 50 and got all the information I needed at that point. Which helpted me get to another station nearby and it wasnt crowded like the last one.
No.. it did not smell good in there.
Yes.. That charity girl put that India badge while talking.
My first beautiful sight in Delhi.
Just wandering
It was a nice park and i just wanted to sit somewhere and take rest. There were a lot of squrriels :D
Made it to India Gate
Inside the famous Delhi tok-tok :D
It was 10 am and no shops were open yet. I was like WTF :O. I had a list of places to try out in Delhi. The restaurant I wanted to go wasn't open either. Then I saw burger king.. life saver :). Got talking to the girls at the counter . Told them about my situation. Kind one of them let me use their phone :)
Heart full of thanks :)
Roamed around and found one of the tea place I wanted to go. Chayoos. They got different types of tea. I asked for their best. I'd say that was the best tea I've ever had. The ambience, music and the clay tumbler makes it even better
Chor bazaar (Thieves Market). Its said that you can find anything in this market. All kinds of people and all kinds of stuff!! I got a tok-tok guy for company, Mr Sunil Kumar. He showed me around.
First friend in Delhi. I asked him to take me to any nearby mall. So he did. Also gave me all necessary details on how to reach bus stand and tips on booking ticket. He waited and made sure i reached there. Waved his hand in the air looking at me and drove away. Nice guy he was :)
Jungle book was playing there. There was only one ticket left for the next show. Nobody wanted a single ticket. I got lucky. But then I came to know the show was in local language. WTF!!
With great difficulty, I managed to sell it :). Luckily i dint get caught.
Wandered around some more. Wanted internet and coffee. I went to the nearest coffee shop Coffee Cafe Day. Their interet and coffee.. both sucked. Never going there again.
Left the place and i wanted to get to the bus stand. I started walking. Walked half way to bus stand and then got a tok-tok.
McDonald's to the rescue. Tried the same thing here for phone. After an effort the guy at the counter helped to get me internet by registering his mobile number for me. People with humanity still exists.
The bus stand where you'l get bus to Shimla.
By that time my phone was about to die. Saw these power outlets but people were using it to charge their phones. I waited for nearly an hour for a free slot. And then I just sit and watched those round sockets with a flat pin charger in hand. GRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!
Really really tired of waiting and the walking. And those millions of mosquitos!!! OMGGG!!!!!
Finally!! Got in bus. Next stop.. Shimlaaa :D
To be continued. . . Peeaceee :)
