If you’ve always dreamed of going to Hawaii and you recently discovered that you have the money and the time to go, why not make it a family trip? Although traditionally Hawaii is considered to be a destination vacation for couples, the reality is that there are all kinds of things that are fun to do when it comes to adults as well as kids.
If hearing this has piqued your interest and you’d like to know about some of the family-friendly activities that Hawaii has to offer, please keep reading:
Go surfing.
If you have kids who already know how to swim, then you definitely should not go to Hawaii without making sure that they get a few surfing lessons in. With all of the beautiful water and expert instructors at your disposal, it would be a shame to not spend at least one day at the beach on a surf board. You can learn more about where to go to get surf lessons by visiting Hawaii Surf Lessons 101.
Spend time with the (water) animals.
Although there are Sea Worlds on the mainland, both you and your children will definitely enjoy having the opportunity to spend time with some of the water animals on the various islands of Hawaii. You actually have several options to choose from; however, make sure that you stop by the Maui Ocean Center and also the Honolulu Zoo. You definitely will not be disappointed with either site.
Participate in a luau.
It would be absolutely unimaginable to take a vacation to Hawaii and not participate in at least one luau. Luau is a word that means “Hawaiian party or feast” and it’s a lot of fun to watch and also to engage in. The main reason is because it is something that natives and tourists can enjoy doing together. One of the more popular ones in Hawaii is the Kona Village luau on the Big Island. Two others to consider are the Polynesian Cultural Center on Oahu and also the Old Lahaina luau on Maui.
Visit a couple of parks.
Another tip for having an amazing family-friendly Hawaii vacation is to put visiting a couple of parks on your itinerary. Being that the sites are absolutely breathtaking, it will be well worth your time to do a bit of hiking and picture-taking at parks like the Puuhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park and also the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Another place that might be fun for everyone to spend a few hours visiting is the Polynesian Cultural Center. It’s a place that provides a ton of information about Hawaii’s rich culture.
Have fun on your vacation!
