Hello friends of the world!
I decided to create a series of posts about the beautiful island of Tenerife, where I come from. This first part, is general approach and a general overview of some amazing landscapes, many secret worlds in just one place!
Tenerife is one of the seven islands of the Canaries Archipelago. Belonging to Spain, the Canaries are located next to Morocco. Five is the magic number for this Island, because five million people come here every year making it the leading destination in the Canaries.
It is the largest of them all and the only one to have two international airports, which means that it is no more than between two and four hours flying time from the Spanish mainland and the rest of Europe.
What it makes most attractive is definitely the amount of contrast between the different areas. The canaries were called the “ Islas Afortunadas”, by the old Spain conquerors meaning the “ Fortunate Islands”. This is due to its stable climate, thanks to, among other things, the Alisios winds. Here, the mount Teide, the highest peak of all Spain, and the sea of clouds:
Many stories and legends belong to the mountain, an the echoes from ancient inhabitants are felt, in every rock, and in the air.
Not very cold, not vey hot. The mountains an fresh temperatures above, and the coast and the sunny beaches down below. With microclimates, one can choose, differs micro worlds literally.
Many things to discover in the island of contrasts. World heritage, it one of the places you should get to visit at least once in your life! We will deepen into specific places in the next post. I hope you enjoyed Part I, and if you wish, I'll see you in number two!
