Wenceslas Square, Prague - the place of Velvet Revolution

in #travel8 years ago

Hello fellow steemians,

Wenceslas Square in Prague is a vibrant area of hotels, apartments, restaurants, bars, nightclubs, banks and many local and international shops. It is the entertainment and nightlife center of Prague and the main shopping and commercial district begins here. Its size is pretty impressive as it is 750 meters long and 60 meters wide. The major historical monuments to be found here is the National Museum located right at the top of the square as well as the statue of St. Wenceslas on his horse just down below it. For me the Wenceslas square is the symbol of liberty of the Czech Republic as this was the place where events in 1989 lead to the end of Communist era bringing the start of the Democratic republic with freeway of travel and speech. Please enjoy few pictures below and have a great day everybody.
