7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge – Asian Sunday week #21 – winner announcement!
@kcaj88 Asian Sunday entry:
This is a photo that I took in Xinjiang, China. That's a Euphrates Poplar Forest which is about 6000 years old. Euphrates Poplar can live up to 3000 years old and even though the trees are dead, they can still stand for another 3000 years. I think they are tough and strong there for I took that pic.

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge – Australian Monday week #21 – winner announcement!
@stabilowl Australian Monday entry:
It was early evening and I was walking along the coastline at the Royal Botanic Garden, Sydney with my camera and tripod looking for something to shoot. I was almost at the end the the trail, close to Mrs Macquarie's Chair, when I was treated with this beautiful skyline of the City of Sydney, with all the colours reflecting on the water. I spend quite a bit of time there, perfecting my shots. And here is the best one.

To continue the series of frozen Baltic Sea coastline, here is quite a special and minimalist shot of the stone completely frozen into the ice. Stunning colors of very very cold winter sunset, cause by still very high humidity of the air and unique singh-ray color polarizing filter mounted. Totally phantasmagorical view. Enjoy it!

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge – African Wednesday week #21 – winner announcement!
@photofreediver African Wednesday entry:
Synchronized swimming. Not everyone knows that near the island of Mauritius, large herds of sperm whales live and grow their progeny. When we found out about this, we decided to fly there to check whether this is true. Our dream was at least to see these magnificent animals. Who could have known then that we not only managed to see the sperm whales, but swim with them and even practice synchronized swimming.

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge – European Thursday week #21 – winner announcement!
@mibreit-photo European Thursday entry:
This is Fanad Lighthouse in Donegal, the northernmost part of Ireland. I went there early in the morning to catch the sunrise and was rewarded with this wonderful light. It's quite a beautiful setting for a lighthouse. If you ever visit Donegal, make sure to pay this spot a visit.

This is Ocean Park, just south of Santa Monica Pier in Santa Monica, CA. I was invited down here on Wednesday by a friend for an early morning beach workout. So from 7:30am - 8:45am, I had a great workout followed by a delicious breakfast with my friend. And after that, of course I had to take some photos since I'm not at the beach very often. It was a great way to start my day!
During my round the US trip, I took the train of California Zephyr from San Francisco to Chicago. This is the view I captured when the train was approaching Chicago. California Zephyr is Amtrak's second longest route taking about 52 hours. I didn't feel the journey so long since my eyes were feasting on the wonderful scenic views along the way. :D
This looks like your image is never going to end:)....
It is almost looking like a massive cruising ship sailing on the Hudson River, carrying the buildings of a financial district a cross the globe rather than the silhouette of Manhattan skyline on a sunny afternoon.
Location: New York, USA.
Wonderful image, beautiful entry!
The nearly 11 mile round trip hike with apx 1700 ft elevation gain was well worth it to see Goat Lake, in Washington State USA. The destination is not the only great part of this hike as there are beautiful waterfalls, wildlife, and many varieties of mushrooms to view along the way.
Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful image! Tomas
I took this photo at Jedediah Smith Redwood State Park in California. I was the first person to get to this grove in the early morning, and caught the rays of the morning light filtering through the massive trees. There was a wildfire raging a safe distance away, so the entire forest was filled with smoke, giving the light a hazy effect.
Great perspective and I love the mood with the light beams coming thorough the trees.
Thanks @justdentist!
I can smell the freshness all the way here just though your image! So soothing!
Sunrise in Bryce Canyon National Park. Bryce Canyon contains the largest collection of hoodoos (odd-shaped pillars of rock left standing from the forces of erosion) in the world. I like this shot, but after seeing this place in person I think that no shot can make it justice.
Amazing place! I definitely have to visit one day. Tomas
This is the so-called "Twenty Dollar View" of the most beautiful lake I have ever visited: Moraine Lake in Banff National Park. The turquoise color of the lake is really awesome...
Amazing colors of the lake, great photo :)
Thank You. The color of the lake really looks like this. No need for photoshop ;)
Love it! Great photo and I guess you are right that no photoshop is needed:)
Very cool photo, the place must be awesome to see for real :)
Simply spectacular!
This is Horseshoe Bend, which is part of the great Grand Canyon experience and for me is one of the natural wonders of the world. It is a horseshoe-shaped incised meander of the Colorado River located near the town of Page, Arizona, in the United States. It is accessible via hiking (~2.5km) via Route 89, but as it is a state park there is also an access road. The Horseshoe Bend can be viewed from the steep cliff above, which is where I took this photo from. You will need a wide-angle lens to capture the whole scene in frame :-)
Steep orange cliffs, emerald green waters of the Colorado River and views of the Vermilion Cliffs and the Paria Plateau in the west, the Navajo Reservation to the south and east, and the outskirts of Page to the north, these are fabulous views. Nowadays expect to share the view with dozens of other people. Horseshoe Bend is a popular stop for tour buses, as well as independent travelers. But so worth it!
Thank you so much for this wonderful image... just to be perfectly compliant with the guidelines limit your entry to around 50 words. Tomas
Apologies Tomas, was getting a bit excited to share more ;-)
Should I edit my post above or just keep in mind for next time?
This image was taken at the iconic Lake Louise in mid October of 2017 when taking a hike around the lake for the afternoon. The lake was so calm it allowed for perfect reflection of the surroundings.
Beautiful shot! Thank you so much for sharing. Tomas
Lake Louise,Canada One of my favorite lakes in Alberta. Short this during our week long road trip from Vancouver - Jasper - Banff last summer. The smoke in the air was due to the wild fire across US during that time. Nevertheless what a beautiful Glacier Lake.
What a "peaceful" image! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you
What a stunning image! Very calming....
Thank you
This is Niagara Falls at sunrise. At first I was disappointed at where the sun rose in relation to the falls, but tried to embrace the challenge of capturing it. The size of and power of the falls was a great contrast to how peaceful and calm the scene felt at that time of day.
Thank you so much for your contribution to this challenge. Truly appreciated. Tomas
I've just joined Steem and was really excited to follow you and the challenges! Thanks for hosting them!
Golden Gate Bridge
Did you know that the color, the bridge is painted in, is called "THE UNIQUE INTERNATIONAL ORANGE COLOR"? Other fun fact: HOW MANY VEHICLES HAVE CROSSED THE GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE?
2,025,883,491 vehicles have crossed the Golden Gate Bridge from May 28, 1937 to January 2014. I've crossed it several times, by car and on my feet, and it's such a cool monument:) Here you see it from the ocean's side.
Have a great weekend everybody!
Photo of the famous Biosphère of Montreal (Quebec, Canada). It is a geodesic dome of made of steel and it has 76 metes of diameter and it is 62 meters high. It was built in 1967 for the Expo 67. It houses a museum dedicated to the environment.
The iconic NYC landmark Statue of Liberty during an epic sunset captured from the ferry going from the Staten Island to Manhattan. Too bad I didnt have a better camera back then in 2010 when I was in the US on my work and travel program.
Beautiful picture @phortun!
thanks Nanda :)
Great photo @phortun, such colours and symbolism :-)
thanks! :)
On my visit to the USA to marry @danpaulson I was lucky enough to see the beauties of Yellowstone Park. My entry is a gorgeous panoramic view of the Grand Prismatic Spring's steamy mists rising, which is also the subject of the first photo in this post by @czechglobalhosts.
mount hood, portland, oregon, US Pacific northwest is one of my favorite places. I really enjoy the scenery there when visiting the place. the place is so cool and often drizzling rain makes the atmosphere more cold. coupled with the amazing scenery made my time so short.
(
Took this photo of the highway to heaven... or the H3 highway on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. I was lucky enough to go on the Aiea loop trail hike with a couple friends and found this amazing view of the valley. It was an easy hike and for anybody looking to visit Hawaii I highly recommend you checking it out. Incredible views and easy enough for any ages.
I have prepared photo of St. Louis Cathedral that is located in New Orleans. It is located next to Jackson Square in the French Quarter of New Orleans. It is one of the Roman Catholic churches in the US. There is a rumor that the cathedral is haunted by Père Dagobert - monk.
My heart has wings and I can fly!
(Thanks for the title, @vtravels!). This is from the Canadian side of Niagara Falls, when sunlight lit up the spray in a nice way. Niagara is beautiful is all different seasons, but the colours are superior in the summer!
This is beautiful. Did you use Photoshop are else to saturate and edit the colors? Or are these colors close to what the place look like for real?
Thank you! Yes, I increased the saturation from the RAW file in Lightroom. I don't think I changed the colours, though! :)
Don’t worry, this is not fire smoke 😁
It is just a regular day in one of the nicest places on the world, Yellowstone National Park. We were there in 2014 and one of the most spectacular parts of the park is Norris Geyser Basin. I hope you will agree with me after seeing photo below…

If you like waterfalls go to Yosemite National Park. Yosemite is the home of numerous waterfalls. The best time to see them is during Spring, when the snow is melting the most. The peak runoff takes place in May or June.
Mexican Valladolid is a small, quient city that still preserves a special colonial flavor. Here, you will see the majority of the town's people still using the typical dress of the Mayan, colonial architecture around the Main Plaza and many historical buildings.
Thank you, Tomas!!!!
My entry for today for North American Friday is this amazing city. New York, a city that never sleeps! This picture was taken from Empire State Building. Just love to walk around the NYC.
Yellowstone National Park in the US!

Here's what I took during my travels in Sedona, Sedona is a small town located in northern Arizona. Precisely about 200 kilometers from the capital Phoenix. Sedona is famous for its magnificent red rock hills coupled with the atmosphere of a clear sky, making all visitors' eyes amazed by the magnificent scenery.
This is not your traditional tourist destination, this is one of NEW YORK graffiti art that, you can find this street art all around Manhattan, this one was taken from the train on the way to Grand Central Station from upstate; is beautiful, different and not only makes it pretty to the locals and tourist eyes it aldo makes the city more interesting than what it is. Next time you are in the big 🍎 take a time to look up when you walk.
