@best-trip-eva Asian Sunday entry:
Sunrise at Mt. Rinjani (3,726 meters or 12,224 ft). This is the second highest volcano in Indonesia. Mt. Agung - the highest volcano on Bali island, which recently erupted - is visible on the back-right. All three of the Gili Islands can be seen before it. On the left side in the clouds the perfect cone shape of Rinjani is visible. The picture was taken the end of August 2017 and the trekking of the volcano was the highlight of my journey in Indonesia.

@mibreit-photo Australian Monday entry:
On my first visit to New Zealand I spent a night in downtown Auckland. Early in the morning I made my way to a bridge from where I could overlook the skyline and some interesting intersections below. With a longtime exposure I could create a nice effect for the photo.

Lhoknga is one of the best coastal areas in the greater Aceh face to the Indian Ocean. Therefore Lhoknga is one of the best sunset locations in Aceh. Almost every day and especially on Sunday crowded young people who come to enjoy and capture the sunset in Lhoknga. One of them is Sunset Surf Cafe which is a cafe directly opposite to the sunset.

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge – African Wednesday week #29 – winner announcement!
@jpphotography African Wednesday entry:
This dune looks amazing - until you attempt to climb it! The sand makes it really hard to lift your feet and the strong winds are not improving the situation. However, the view from the top of this dune in the Moroccan Sahara totally made up for that and watching the colours of the majestic dunes slowly change during golden hour was one of the most amazing sunsets I have seen on my travels!

Saint-Tropez is a city in France roughly 60 miles west of Nice on the French Riviera. Before the 20th Century, this was a quiet fishing village, but after WWII, it became a chic hot spot for jet setting tourists who wanted a tan on the world famous beaches. I missed the summer fun here, but visited in mid-October to catch a beautiful autumn sunset on the beach last year.
Edinburgh at Sunset, Scotland
I made my way to the top of Calton Hill, one of the main hills overlooking the city. Calton Hill was planned to be a monument to soldiers of the Napoleonic Wars, but money ran out and it was never completed. It’s difficult to imagine now, but for years, the hill was seen as an embarrassment to the city, known as “Edinburgh’s Shame.”
Nowadays, no one views the hill as an embarrassment. Attempts to turn it into a commercialised tourist attraction mercifully failed. It’s ruggedly beautiful and from the top of Calton Hill, I had views of the entire city.
Wow! Just epic! Well done!
Talking about stars... Probably the most powerful experience as a landscape photographer for me personally is a night starry skies. You have to go further from the lights emission points like cities, but that really worth it.
When all the stars are gazing at you... unforgettable feeling
Here is a kind of auto portrait shot at Sventoji, Lithuania (Baltic Sea coastline). Just set a camera with some delay to manage to get a position myself. That was the rare amazing night with some Northern lights at horizon
Enjoy it!

Awesome colors, amazing image! Well done!
Just an example of the amazing place that is Covão d'Ametade, a eco-campsite located in the Serra da Estrela Natural Park (North-Central Portugal) and integrated in one of the largest glacial valleys in all Europe. This beautiful stream is just one of several scenarios that one can enjoy at that place!
a very beautiful forest
a masterpiece
Thanks @ombrue
Cheers!
If I had to choose so far, this would be it for me.
I don't like forests and this kimd of environment, but how your photography skills are set up is just amazing.
I'd definitely vote for you.
Keep it up!
Thanks for your kind words @elsiekjay :)
Cheers!
Cheers bud.:)
That looks pretty spectacular! Thank you for your amazing entry. Tomas
Thanks Tomas :)
Cheers!
Night in Berlin
River bank of Spree near Friedrich-Ebert-Platz is probably my favorite place in Berlin. I think it is mostly because of Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders-Haus which symbolizes Berlin for me even more then Fernsehturm Berlin (the TV tower) and the Reichstag (just right behind me). I have been to Berlin several times, but that was my first night walk. Well, at night it is even more beautiful. The light designed very well there and reflections in the Spree river are great.
Awesome colors.
Thank you!
Those are some amazing colors! Thank you for your submission! Tomas
Romania has several beautiful medieval castles and fortresses. I visited most of them, and Corvinilor is by far my favorite for its fairytale-ish look. This photo is from my 2016 tour of my country of origin, and remains one of the most cherished surprise discoveries. (I am just now starting to select and edit the thousands of photos from that extensive trip, so there will be more coming! :). I'd love to visit this place again in summer to capture it with all the surrounding vegetation.

Thank you so much for your wonderful entry and support of my challenge. Have a great day. Tomas
This is a picture I took two days ago of my girlfriend skiing down into the sunset in the North of Norway. This was without a doubt the most perfect day we have had up here so far. To get to this place you have to drive 2 hours from Tromso towards Tromvik and to reach the top you have to hike up 4 hours. But that's more than worth it!
Incredible!!! Love this shot. Well done! I hope you win:)
Thanks, highly appreciated :)
That sure is an amazing entry and fabulous image! Thank you so much for your participation. Tomas
Such a great shot. Well done.
Thanks you so much, it was a case of being at the right place at the right time ;)
When you go down the Ardèche River on a canoë, you cross many rapid currents that can roll your boat around. 32 km paddling to the end. At some point, you will go under the "pont d'Arc" which is a natural arch created by the water.
Location: Vallon Pont d'Arc, France.
Spectacular as always! Thank you so much for your contribution. Tomas
The Arc de Triomphe in Paris is one of the most famous monuments in this city. The arch was built in 1806-1836 on the prize of Napeleon's speed in Battle of Austerlitz. The monument is 51 meters high and the arc height is 29 meters. It is located in the middle of Place Charles-de-Gaulle.
Thank you so much for submitting your entry with this fabulous image of the Arc de Triomphe!
I was traveling to Moscow with the night train from St. Petersburg. When I arrived it was around 5 am. The subway wasn't working yet. I decided to overtake the crowd and walk a few kilometers to the Moscow's most popular site - Saint Basil's Cathedral. I was so lucky - no tourist, а beautiful blue sky (rare to see in Moscow) and amazing soft colors.
Tremendous shot! Thank you for that!
Beautiful shot, @best-trip-eva! 💕 I love the vibrancy of colors!
Sunrise from our chalet in La Joue Du Loup, the southern Alps of France. In a cold winter morning with fresh snow decorating the peaks, it is very exciting to be greeted with these cheerful colors as a way to start the day. The area is famous for skiing, but there are also many beautiful treks around for those that like to hike.
Wow, truly stunning colors! I just love it!
Lake Mývatn
Found in the North-East of Iceland is beautiful Lake Mývatn. It's surrounded by lava fields and a highly active geothermal area. We spend two nights in this area and were blessed with this beautiful sunset on the second day. After a day full of activities you can relax in the Nature Baths of Mývatn. I would recommend to check out the Vogafjós Cowshed Restaurant. It's actually right next to the Cowshed and has brilliant food.
I visited this ancient theatre in Taormina on the Sicily island of Italy. The construction was started by the Greeks around the third century BC, and later it was renovated and expanded by the Romans. This well preserved archaeological wonder is located in a beautiful natural setting, with splendid view toward the Calabrian and the Ionian coasts, and you can clearly see the cone of Etna if weather permits.
It's awesome to see places like this @itchyfeetdonica. Brings you back to the ancient times!
Thank you @everydayart! Glad you like it. =)
This is so cool. It would be so awesome to be visit a place like this and think about all the shows that were done here so long ago. Great shot.
You are right Wes! When I was sitting there, I just couldn't help imaging the scene of how people in the past was watching the shows.
Called Duomo di Milano (the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin, the dome of Milan), this incredible building is the third largest church in the world after St. Peter's of Rome and the Cathedral of Seville.
You must visit this Cathedral, it's really beautiful.
Milan-Italy
Took this amazing picture while hiking in the Switzerland National park in Zernez. There is so much natural beauty in Switzerland it is incredible and the views from every part of the nation is beyond anything I have ever seen. The contrast of the rolling plains with the forests and mountains is nothing rare in Switzerland but spectacular in and by itself.
Acropolis
Spent 2 weeks in Athens and loved every minute of it. Beautiful city, great people, and wonderful sites to see... I can't wait to go back next year. This is one of my favorite sites to visit. I could spend days here looking at everything. Had dinner at an outdoor restaurant at the base of the Acropolis and had this as my view.

Hi,
This is my entry for this contest,
The Eiffel Tower - The heart of Europe
Paris is the Capital of Light, it is also be considered as the heart of Europe. Most of the travelling tour choose Paris as the first spot. Eiffel Tower is the symbol of Paris also France. This photo was taken in early morning, I woke up early and took the first metro to go there. In the cloudy day, the tower appeared stunningly. This is summer time of 2016 when Euro was happening. That's why the tower has the ball in the middle. Luckily, this ball looks like the heart of the tower, and makes this tower like a human being, like a guardian of Paris.
Best,
London is one of the most beautiful cities around the world especially its architecture in buildings. The Queens guard parade is something to watch the discipline that these men show is one of a kind.
You might have seen pictures of this lake on the Internet, and it look so unreal, like some perfect paint but its more than real, and totally worth the visit, not matter the time of year.
Morskie Oko (the Sea Eye) its located in the middle of a few of the Tatra Mountains .
my favorite nature place in Poland
But in the summer there is so many people that it can be really disturbing, so I don't go there anymore during high season. I think that there is more beautiful lakes but not so crowded like this one.
maybe you right , on that date you see i was and it was ok not sooo crowded and then i wen to hike on the mountain and it was really nice :)
Thank you Tomas for this great opportunity! The following photo was taken in Mdina, the ancient capital of Malta, a jewel island in the middle of the Mediterranean sea. Mdina takes its name from the Arabic colonisation period, before it was a Roman castrum and its ancient name was Melita. It's a mysterious place and loosing yourself within the maze of its narrow streets is an almost mystical experience. The "silent city" has also a wide underground system of paleo-christian catacombs right beneath it, waiting to be explored.
It's been a while but here is my contribution for this week. Picture of a sunset taken in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium last Saturday. People usually don't believe me but I didn't use any filter on this picture. And I love this orange sky!
J'aime le Musée Hergé! =) Are you from UCL? It's the first time I see a photo from Louvain-la-Neuve on Steemit. I was in KUL. :)
Yes I'm from UCL :) But I've never been to Hergé museum. Do you still live in Belgium?
Not right now, but I have families there, will be there later this year. =)
Zaanse Schans, wonderful place in the northern part of Netherlands, where is a lot of windmills, which are truly predetermined to be photographed. When you have good weather conditions, which means sunny and not so windy, its a great place to visit!
Ahoj!
The windmills look interesting, @ritxi! And of course, you got a nice shot of them! 😊
Xwejni Bay is a bay located in the northern part of Gozo (Malta), near the place where I lived and worked. It is great spot for bathing and starting point for divers. It offers also absolutely beautiful views encompassing the salt pans.
Courtyard of the Trakai Castle, an iconic landmark of Lithuania. Located in the southeastern part of the country, some 25 km (16 mi) outside Vilnius, the Trakai Castle is a huge medieval castle built on a little island on the Lake Galve. With its origins dating back to the 13th century, the Trakai Castle was the main center of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, a powerful European country that existed from the 13th century until 1795.
Awesome. This looks just like it was a place that video games like Skyrim model their cities after.
Thanks Wes :) Here is a whole about the castle if you are interested in this type of architecture https://steemit.com/architecturalphotography/@phortun/architectural-photography-trakai-castle-the-iconic-landmark-of-lithuania
Great article. This is such a cool looking place to visit.
Thanks. Europe is pretty smal in terms of area so you can definitely visit more countries and see many cool places when you are in Prague ;)
Nice capture! Loved the Trakai Castle. =)
Thanks Donica, I would love to see your photos from there too! :)
Great pic and great place!
Díky :)
The Church of La Sagrada Familia, in Barcelona, is the unfinished masterpiece of the Catalonian architect Antoni Gaudí (1852-1926). Its construction started in 1852 and still has not finished it. The photo shows Passion Façade, which faces west. It shows the history of the death of Jesus.
Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood is one of most attractive sights of Saint Petersburg, Russia. Last summer we were here and found it so beautiful behind of a narrow canal namely Griboyedov Canal. I recommended everyone to visit this city during June or July. Here you will find my photo from this church:
Kindly please visit my blog to find some photos that we took around the world.
@otrip
You are a pro photographer!
Thank you.
I love that lighting. Beautiful shot.
Thanks for your support
This is a Vertical Garden of the CaixaForum in Madrid, Spain. Which is a cultural center dedicated mainly to temporary art exhibitions so the influx of public varies according to their schedule of activities. This place is integrated within the so-called Art Triangle, in the Paseo del Prado, a beautiful place to appreciate all the talent that is in this cultural center.
WALKING ALONG ROME’S TIBER RIVER
We had a pleasent stay in Rome and found it like a gem. Three hot days during August was unforgottable for us and we decided to walk along Tiber River.
I suggest traveller walk towards Castel Sant'Angelo, along this river and take some nice photos and SHARE HERE!!
It is awesome! Like a beautiful wallpaper!
Thank you for your support.
Great picture. When was this taken? I am hoping to travel there soon.
Thank you, An evening in last summer.
.
Please check Trekearth again, we added comment with your and my name to ensure you. Thank you again
I believe that one of you took it now. When you said that you took it last year, but the site said it was taken in 2012, that is what wasn't adding up. Thank you for taking the time to resolve this. Like I told @otrip, it is a great photo.
You are welcome. I appreciate all your efforts to clear the board.
Thank you for hard work to report ownership. That Trekearth account is mine. If you want I can send original shot of this photo to you. Actually I travel to Europe every summer and I confused about date of this photo.
@otrip just said it was his.
@otrip, why did you delete your comment?
Don't worry, I have a screenshot of it.
I sent comment by my account. Nothing to hide. Do not worry. @Nasel is for my wife.
Well whoever took it, it is a good picture, I will give you, your wife credit for that. But I hope you can see where I am coming from with this.
We are trying to keep things honest and fair for everyone in these contests across the board, so when things like this come up and they start to not add up it gets a little suspicious.
Would you guess that this in Europe? Would you guess that this is London? Welcome to Canary Wharf! My home for many years. I just love how contrast-full London is!

One of the most romantic cities in Europe is Venezia, in Italy. In the interior of the city there is no traffic, being except for the navigation in the vaporettos by the canals that separate the islands, a totally pedestrian city, it is a place where tourists from all over the world meet because of the famous what is this place.
Paris, the Louvre at night. The museum square is still quite crowded after our tour of the museum, people are engaged in casual conversation and strolling about.

This shot is from the city Brugge in Belgium. It's a very small city, but very historical. You can feel the history with every step and every corner you take. It's really beautiful as many buildings just look so old - it feels like you suddenly jumped centuries back in time. Surely visit if you go to Belgium.

This picture I took few days ago in Wrocław (Poland), the river was really calm so it was possible to take picture of National Museum with some clear reflectiom. I was lucky that I took a walk and had camera with me.
This is a photo that I took on a bridge in Budapest. I was traveling light so I only had my cell phone for photos. This was taken in August 2014.
Here is my entry from Venice, Italy.
Venice, the capital of northern Italy’s Veneto region, is built on more than 100 small islands in a lagoon in the Adriatic Sea. It has no roads, just canals. I think, building city on the water is a very unique and unusual. Venice is very bright and welcoming, lots of tourists just like me enjoy the hospitality of this city.
Porto, Portugal. Walking through the streets of this city is guarantee of astonishment at every corner. The architecture is so diversified, both in style and time. The tiles, namely on churches, are unique.
Florence or Firenze. I took my wife there for our vacation. It's a nice place with colorful buildings. It has great architecture and many masterpieces of Renaissance art. The city also contains numerous museums and art galleries, such as the Uffizi Gallery and the Palazzo Pitti.
This was walk taken on a early summer day at a place called Banstead outside London. Part of the walk was along these fields but I don't know what these plants were. But that's ok because it was a beautiful day.

Okay, that freaks me out! It look so crazy so awesome could be the world and how we can see it just in a photography. Nice work they're doing.
I love it
hi you, you can follow me not, thank you very much!
This isn't a fair challenge for all. Speaking for those who don't have the opportunity to travel around the globe :/
However, I will just sit back and enjoy viewing those who have.
Good luck to all.
Xoxo
Hey, @elsiekjay! Cheer up! 😊 You'll soon get to travel the world, but for now, you can showcase the beauty your place has through your shots! I see that you're from Kenya? You can join @czechglobalhost's contest every Wednesday.

Spring is here, and everyone can't seem to get enough. Beautiful clear sky, peace on the water and great mountain rage. Picture location is Weggis, Switzerland. I do hope you enjoy the view.
