7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge – Asian Sunday week #23 – winner announcement!

@h2odigital Asian Sunday entry:

This is a picture of The Petrona Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. They were the tallest building in the world until 2004. I went all the way to the top and it was a good experience, but it was raining and the views weren't that good. However, the view of the building from groundlevel did not disappoint. It is an amazing building!

@vinceboisgard Australian Monday entry:

In Arrowtown (NZ), there is a 4x4 track going up in the mountains. You'll have to cross about 20 plus rivers to reach the end of it which is an old gold mining station. All along the way the scenery is just stunning. Location: Arrowtown, New Zealand.

@eaglest Tuesday of Antarctica and world´s oceans entry:

One of the most beautiful beaches of Tenerife is Playa de Almaciga. This coast with lots of cliffs and rocks and steep mountains is a stunning location. For this image I waited until the lights of the town of Almaciga started to shine. The glowing town makes a nice contrast to the dark mountains behind.

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge – African Wednesday week #23 – winner announcement!

@ansharphoto African Wednesday entry:

Dunes of Sossusvlei, Namibia. In Sossusvlei, the wonder is the land itself. The area is famous for its massive sand dunes, sculpted and smoothed by the wind in a desert completely devoid of surface water. The same winds that create the dunes also change them, and the sinuous lines and forms that amaze today may be different tomorrow. Even their colors change, the striking terra cotta easing into browns and beiges as the sun waxes and wanes.

The windmills at Kinderdijk really are incredible to see up close in person. These 19 modern technological and architectural marvels were built around 1740 to pump water out of the fields and into a reservoir. It's one of the most famous landmarks in the Netherlands and became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. If you're ever in Amsterdam, I recommend taking the trip to Kinderdijk to see them!

MillenniumTowerVienna@nissla.jpg

Millennium Tower @ Donauinsel, Vienna
The Danube Island is one of the most beautiful attractions that Vienna has to offer and not only during the day a spectacle. The sunset is breathtaking and even at night it is beautiful to see the reflections of the surrounding skyscrapers dance happily in the depths of the Danube river.

Is this the danube?

yes, this is the danube and the pic was taken at brigittenauer bridge :)

Thank you so much for your participation! What a great image. Tomas

Saint Mary Basilica, Krakow

As I often do, I set up my tripod in the early hours of morning outside Saint Mary Basilica. Located in a busy pedestrianized area, there were almost always people strolling in front of the basilica, and I wanted to capture it with no people. I wanted the focus solely on the building, one of the city’s most beautiful.

I found a place to sit to try to wait out the last of previous night’s bar-goers. As I waited, my mind wandered to the city and its history. Krakow survived World War intact, so it isn’t hard to be distracted by the city’s long history. The Saint Mary Basilica, built nearly a thousand years ago, has stood witness to much of that history.

Simply stunning!

Very cold and colourful sunrise at the Klaipeda old town. The symbol of Klaipeda - sailing ship "Meridianas" completely frozen in the river (well it doesn't move anywhere anyways :)

Enjoy it!

That is pretty high! Must be amazing to have such clear views! Magnificent.

The Glacier Sheep of Iceland

Sheep are everywhere on the island. They are independent, often seen in pairs, fair up on the tops of hills, white specks in the distance. These were closer to the road, but there was a nice backdrop!

Sheep and Glacier

Love your pic! Great job! Tomas

Thank you! :)

View of the beautiful Eilean Donan Castle which began to be built in 1220 and is located on the small island of the same name on Lake Duich, northwest of Scotland. It is only accessible by boat or through a narrow stone bridge that connects the island with the shore of the lake, (pictured at low tide) so that in its day it turned out to be a powerful fortress very difficult to take.

What a great entry and a beautiful image. Thank you so much for your submission. Have a great day. Tomas

This is a beautiful sunny moment I had in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The hump-backed stone arch bridge Stari Most in my shot is a landmark connecting the two parts of Mostar. These Balkan Islamic architectures are in perfect harmony with the natural settings around.

That looks so picturesque! Amazing image.

The Church of St. John at Kaneo

Located in one of the oldest prehistoric in Europe, Lake Ohrid, The church of Saint John at Kaneo is also one of the oldest church in Europe. There are a few Orthodox structures like this around in the area and it's worth discovering with a little hike along the lake to this spot.

I just happen to come across heavy but dissipating clouds over the lake and the sun was slightly peeking over to illuminate the lake. Lake Ohrid is one of the most touristy spots in Macedonia and for good reason. This church is a beauty to behold and one that will probably get more recognition and visits from tourists as time goes on.

Thank you so much for your participation. This once again is a superb entry. Tomas

Warshaw, Poland. This in sunrise at the square in old town of Warshaw.
This part of town was completele reconstructed after WWII but despite the fact that there are no ancient buildings here is very cozy and nice.
These bright colors in the dawn sky made me run out of the hotel room almost barefoot. Had to hurry to reach the desired point of shooting until the sky is not extinguished

I am very pleased you are submitting your amazing images on regular basis now. Truly appreciated. Have a great day. Tomas

Thank you for contest! This is nice motivation!

Down in the valley

A view of the valley from Gamle Strynefjellsvegen. Gamle Strynefjellsvegen is itself a very picturesque road in More og Romsdal, Norway. But the view on its end to a valley surrounded by the mountains is absolutely breathtaking.

Photo of the London Millenium Bridge. It is a pedestrian bridge built between the years 1998-2000. It is a steel suspension bridge and crosses the River Thames. At the background of the image, the St. Paul's Cathedral can be seen.
I find the design of this bridge quite interesting.

Welcome to Berlin

Germany's capital Berlin is the largest city in Germany regarding the population and area occupied. During the Cold War it played an important role in the national and international politics. The city was also divided by the Berlin Wall into a western and eastern part. In the photo you see the German Parliament the "Bundestag", the American Embassy and the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe by Peter Eiserman und Buro Happold, which was build in 2005 and should remind us of the dark days in the countries history.

Mont Saint-Michelle hill lies on the border of Normandy and Brittany in France. During my visit, I was fortunate to have seen a herd of sheep arriving at the foreground in the shape of an arrow pointing towards the mountain.

Gold of Valday lake
I85F5019.jpg
The Valdai lake is somewhere halfway between Moscow and St. Petersburg. I left Moscow by car late in the evening on Friday and drove to Valdai somewhere at three o'clock in the morning. For a week, fatigue accumulated, plus five hours behind the wheel. In the car, I dreamed of coming and going to bed at once, but when I saw how the dawn filled with colors, the dream took off like a hand. I took the camera and sat for a few hours on the shore, enjoying the beauty of the lake, the golden sunrise and the incredible silence, so scarce for us, the inhabitants of megacities ...

Jupiter under the milky way. It is a wooden model of Jupiter planet. Shot quiet recently near observatory of Moletai in Lithuania. At the beginning I thought it was just a nice foreground object, but friendly steemians actually helped me to figure out that this thing is a Jupiter :) Enjoy the view.

Standing at the bottom of this magnificent waterfall named Skógafoss. I can feel the water instantly freezing in contact with the air. I'm feeling so small and insignificant while feeling great in the meantime. Iceland is such an amazing country, it is breathtaking!

Location: Skógafoss, Iceland.

One of my favourite woods in Germany is "Druidenhain" in Franconian Switzerland in the south of Germany.

What makes this place so beautiful are the numerous moss-covered green rocks. When the sun comes out and shines through the trees it is a magical place.

It is said that hundreds of years ago druids made rituals there. That's why it got the name "Druidenhain"...

catedral de la virgen de la almudeba.jpg

One afternoon walking through the streets of Madrid, I found the Catholic church called Cathedral of the Almudena, along with a beautiful sunset, this is well known and visited by many people daily; Spain is a country with a very traditional culture and this is something to admire

A view of a small town in the Lofoten Islands (Norway). The Lofoten archipelago is known for characteristic fishing villages, spectacular landscape and as a great place for northern lights hunting tours.
I took this shot just after the sunset, when the blue of the sky created a characteristic mood typical of this place.

Here is a capture of a really popular spot for photographers in Europe, the famous Neckar Bridge in Tübingen, Germany. I took this picture one month ago at night. The city has a really beautiful night scenery, great light colors, stunning historical buildings, and sculptures.

An amazing and very expressive thing is a mill. It fits perfectly into any landscape. And they are all different. We specially went to see the mills in the north of Holland. There in a small town there should have been more than a dozen mills. But in that money the temperature has changed a lot. And the whole city was clouded with fog. We drove around the neighborhood for a long time and could not find these mills. Although they were a few meters away from us. In the end, we just ran into one of them accidentally. It was very funny then to see where we went when the fog cleared a little)

Great photography! One of the best I have encountered on Steemit until now 👏👏👏

This amazing pananoramic photo of Valletta, the capital city of Malta, was taken in 2014. The dominant feature of the photo is Basilica of our Lady of Mount Carmel. It is one of the most famous churches and main tourist attractions of this city.

Romantic sunset over the Atlantic Ocean taken from a place that is actually called La Romantica :) It is located a few miles west of Puerto de la Cruz on the northern coast of Tenerife, one of the Canary Islands. This archipelago is found just some 100 km off Africa but it politically belongs to Spain.

Rothenburg ob der Tauber is a small town in Bavaria, Germany, which still has a lot of houses dating back to the Medieval times that survived the bombing during WWII. The steep red roof tiles and the square windows are the two most striking features of these Bavarian architecture. The best place to view the town is of course from the bell tower, where you can get a good overview of the whole town and beyond. It was lucky that back then the town mayor stroked a deal with the allied forces and surrender for them to stop the bombing. Otherwise we would not be able enjoy this good view today.

This photo I made in 2013, the last time I traveled around the Crimea. It is one of the three bays of the Novy Svet village. It's called Blue. The beach in this Bay is called the Royal. In this bay, while traveling on a yacht, the last Russian emperor Nicholas II liked to stop

Одно из моих любимых мест в Крыму. Шампанское там очень хорошее! Ну и красиво, конечно)

Мое тоже. Особенно прекрасны горы.

The beautiful village of Mértola, located in the heart of the lower Alentejo region (southern Portugal), photographed on the left side of the bridge over the Guadiana river, the largest river in the south of the Iberian Peninsula!

Wow this post is listed in trending! Congrats.

One of the beautiful photos I took during my stay on the island of Majorca in Spain. The water all around the island was a beautiful turquoise with little to no waves to be seen. The island has so much beauty with hidden beaches and coves to visit. Luckily I will be heading back this summer so I will look for more hidden gems like this one.

Today I have a post from my recent business trip. Specifically, this photo is from France, Rouen. It's really a beautiful city full of history. There are beautiful narrow streets that radiate the atmosphere from past times. And there are a lot of beautiful buildings such as: City Hall, Cathedral, Fountains, etc.

This was taken in the beautiful village of Ronda near Marbella in Spain. This amazing hollow almost appears from nowhere as you peer over a bridge, so incredible!

Photo was taken last year in summer time when I was on a cycling trip. I did quite a lot of kilometers with my bike and didn’t have time to use my photo a lot, but anyway I saw this view on French Alps from flat terrain and I had to stop and take this photo.
Ps: this is good excuse to rest a bit 😁

Menorca island (Spain) is full of marvellous landscapes. Here is one of them located in Cala en Blanes in the western part.
I took this picture in autumn when the weather used to be not sunny. But this is even better for the picture. Viewing such landscape and doing yoga can easily bring good mood and energy into the body.

The cathedral of the famous pisa tower, every person going to Italy we think of 3 places dreamed to visit when arriving in Europe and passes through Italy, the Colosseum, the Vatican and the Pisa Tower, although all the attention of the place focuses the bell of Pisa, this photo is to highlight the beauty of the place in general

Arnastapi Islandia unique and wonderful place, excellent experience that can not be forgotten ..
this little place has many legends to tell, this place does not have many places to sleep, to stay there you have to stay in the camping.

View of Athens from the Pantheon/ Acropolis. The picture illustrates the Porch of the Caryatids, named after a town of the same name in the Peloponnese peninsula, in Greece. The temple originally held 6 figures, one of which was removed from the structure and is now found in the British Museum in London. For the moment many European countries are fighting for their democratic values due to the latest increase in nationalistic groups. There is no better way to remind ourselves in Europe about democracy than turning our eyes towards Ancient Greece and how it all started. Hope you enjoy it :)

Amazing ,good work

200 SBD is quite good money for the challenge.

Morning sunrise at the Eiffel tower from the Tocadéro in Paris. This place is really one of my best spots in Paris. You will fall in love with this view while you relaxing and enjoying cup of coffee and piece of cake in the nearest restaurant. Trocadéro is also home to the Chaillot Palace which itself has several gardens and underground aquarium. Simply amazing!
