It is always good a getaway weekend with the family, without much preparation, just the simple desire to share and have a good time that disconnects us a little from the everyday environment; this was what we decided last weekend, go to Los Altos in Sucre state to visit the house of some relatives to spend a few days of relaxation in contact with nature
.
The route
Los Altos de Sucre, is a mountain climate, which, in turn, is close to the coast, this type of coastal-mountain landscapes are seen a lot in our country and provide a unique environment, not only for visitors but for people who reside in the place. This town is located very close to Anzoátegui state so it is common to find people who come from the city to spend a while away from the hustle and bustle. The route to get to Los Altos de Sucre is as follows:
Coming from Anzoátegui, very close to the police station of Pertigaletes, you will find a quarry called La Pedrera and in front a restaurant-hostel. In this place there is a junction to the right (on the opposite side of the sea), which starts the road that will take you, in a route of 8 km, to Los Altos de Sucre. The inexperienced driver should be cautious, since his road is narrow and steep, in addition the beautiful landscape can distract your attention. See more here (spanish article).
From Puerto La Cruz:
- In the bus terminal there is a route that leads directly to Los Altos but it is more advisable to take the route from the popular market, because there is greater influx of transport.
- It is best to go in your own car, or rent a car because the transport for that route is not very fluid and you can get to know the place better.
The road
During the way to Los Altos you can see the type of vegetation and climate prevailing in the area, it is usually much green along with many houses along the road.
Maybe, one of the most impressive views from the Altos, is that you can see part of the Mochima National Park with some of the islands that make it up while walking the road. The viewpoints and sites to observe this view are very popular in this place.
Family sharing
After we arrived at our relatives' house, almost immediately we began to prepare the food among all, it is very common that at times like these they make special meals prepared in firewood, in a simple kitchen like this one.
We have the good fortune that most of the men in my family love to cook, so this lunch was the work of my dad and my uncles. They made a stew of grains with meat that was delicious.
After eating, i decided to take a walk for take some pictures of the place and have a nice time. The first thing you notice are the green roads that have plants of all kinds around.
This plant with broad leaves caught my attention, it is called chestnut and it has very particular fruits.
The logs for the firewood are dried in the sun so that when they are used, the flame will ignite quickly.
This little curivita or little yellow butterfly came to my attention, which landed on a large tree leaf.
These little flowers, called dandelions, are very pretty and adorn a large part of the soil.
Plaintain plants are on track to produce good fruits.
I also got some avocado plants, with many fruits like these.
These purple flowers I like a lot for their color, they are really super tiny and although i do not know what they are called ibut just wanted to share it with you stemians.
It is very common to see everywhere in Los Altos, plants and flowers of arnica, which apart from being very pretty, have a smell very similar to honey, also it is quite used for medicinal treatments in strokes and body pains.
Due to the cold climate of the place it is possible to find berries such as raspberries and blackberries, they are very tasty.
This is me after enjoying a very cool walk among nature.
At dusk the fog begins to fall and with it the cold. At this time it is good to go out and look for a blanket because the cold can be quite strong, but at the same time quite pleasant, especially the time to sleep.
See you soon
The next day, it's time to say see you soon to your walk through Los Altos de Sucre. Before leaving, we prepared some arepas to the wood that were very tasty. Those are yellow corn arepas known as pelúas and also rice arepas.
I say goodbye (until our new ride) with this flower of arnica and these cute little dogs that i love.
