It's a given. Filipinos are fun-loving people. And having fun with family and friends comes a drink or two. Euromonitor, an international research firm reveals that we can out-drink everyone in the world except South Koreans and Russians!
Oh, how our Lolos, Dads, Titos and Kuyas love their beers! But how many of them even know that there's more to beer than the commercialized brown bottle of pale pilsen all of them grew up with?
Baguio's weather is cold. And what better way to warm a chilly night than a few glasses of beer. And when you talk about having Beer in Baguio, it has to be BAGUIO CRAFT BREWERY. The home of traditionally-brewed and unique handcrafted beers with none of the additives, preservatives or adjuncts that beer drinkers have been accustomed to.
This place has piqued my curiousity for quite some time now. Watched BCB featured on TV many times. Celebrities flock to it when they're in the City of Pines. And to find out what the rave's all about, we had to finally see it for ourselves.
Finding the place was not easy. Our cab driver has heard of it but not familiar with its location. Told him it's at RKC Bldg. along Marcos Highway. He had no Waze. Tough luck! It was just fortunate that when we asked a traffic officer, the driver of a nearby car told us it's before the Puregold store.
We arrived around 7pm. We were led to the top deck which had a casual and rustic ambiance. It was interesting to note that even though it's a weekday Monday and a bit too early, most tables are already occupied. But once you enter, what will definitely catch your attention was the hipster bar counter setup with the 21 craft beer taps as the centerpiece.
The Best Craft Beers pair with the Best Craft Food. We were first served the STOUT ISAW. Chicken Intestines marinated with stout beer, grilled and topped with corn salsa. This was so good! This was the best Isaw we had! Ever!
And shortly afterwards, we had the RIBS PLATTER FAMILY. One full slab of grilled fall-of-the-bone ribs, basted with Zigzagger Beer BBQ Sauce, accompanied by juicy corn on the cob & crispy fries. This and my Keywheat were surely a match made in heaven! Every bite of the meat was like a mini bomb of flavors exploding in my mouth! Such a gastronomic bliss!
To cap off the awesome night, we had their signature desserts Beeramisu and Brownies Ala Mode. Both were really delicious and will not disappoint your sweet tooth.
When in Baguio (and Cebu), the Baguio Craft Brewery is a must-try and should be on top of your list. Believe me. Your trip will not be complete without a visit to this amazing place! It's not only for crafted beer lovers but also for those who want to have a great time and a one-of-a-kind dining and drinking experience.
Super THANKS Demy and Kim and to the friendly and attentive staff of Baguio Craft Brewery! We will surely be back!!
