Our trip to Rome

in #travel8 years ago (edited)

It was my second trip abroad. I have never had money to travel so this was huge for me. It was a trip to celebrate my mothers 50th birthday last summer, so it was me, Christian, my parents, my sister, her boyfriend and my brother. We had booked a pretty nice but small hotel for 4 nights. I think they only had about 10 rooms in total. It was located pretty close to Colosseum. Me and Christian had our own room and it was such a luxury! A big bed and a nice bathroom. Each morning the whole family ate breakfast on the porch outside the hotel. Then we decided what we should do for the day.

Me, my parents and my brother, exploring the area around the Hotel.

My Father and brother walking down the street after the rain had fallen.

Me and Christian wanted to see everything and explore the city. And so we did! Each day we walked for about 8 hours, just taking in the atmosphere and the divine buildings and statues everywhere! Those 4 nights I hardly slept at all, I was constantly tired and exhausted, but it was all worth it. This trip fueled my imagination and my dreams with magical art and ancient mysteries.

Christian Finding some water. We needed a lot of water when we walked around for hours and hours.

Christian by a snack truck.

A small Gelato shop.

A lot of souvenirs.

A random angel.

The view from a bridge.

We visited a lot of small churches where nuns were walking around in silence and a few tourists were praying or just resting. We used the small churches to rest our feet and meditate for a while before we kept walking. My feet hurt so bad even though I had good shoes. We ate dinner in small restaurants, one time we ate on a rooftop, it was so romantic!

We found a big, wonderful park just outside the city center. There was a cosy, old fashioned little cafe in the middle of this park where we drank some coffee and relaxed for a while.

From this park, we had a spectacular view of entire Rome. Here Christian is taking in the scenery.

We found a beautiful fountain in this park.

Inside the Vatican.

We spent a lot of time arguing if we should spend an hour in the line waiting to get into the Vatican or spend some money on a guided tour that would lead us directly into the Vatican. We decided to spend the money on the tour. It was hot, crowded, and stressful, but still worth every dollar. Here are some pictures to prove it.

Beautiful art all over the ceilings. This is inside the Vatican museum.

More ceiling art.

Divine beauty everywhere!

A big tapestry showing the last supper.

Me with a dog statue.

The Sistine-Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica.

A last picture from the Vatican gardens.

Rome was an adventure I will never forget, if I ever have the chance I will go back. It is a heaven for art lovers and big dreamers. We also visited the Colosseum and the Roman Forum, but I have no pictures from there. I hope you will have the chance to visit Rome some day, and if you do please share the experience with us on Steem.

The first picture is not mine, found it on google. For some reason my pictures would not show as the front picture, and imgsafe did not work. So unfortunately I had to use google to find the first picture. The rest of them are taken by me.

I love Italy, especially Tuscany. I haven't visited yet Rome. Nice photos

It would be nice to travel around in Italy for some time, and visit all the nicest places.

I have visited many places around Tuscany. I even stayed a month in Italy. I'm planning to post all of my experiences on my steemit blog. :D

great idea! Im looking forward to reading it :)

I'm gonna follow your posts so let's make this a sharing of experiences. :D Might be fun

Rome is an awesome city and well worth a visit. I hope You had a great time there. It seems You just enjoyed the city and the atmosphere there. The pictures are quite nice and good quality.
In my opinion the descriptions of many of Your photos are very superficial though, not giving much information about the names of the places and objects visited.

I agree I should write more, thanks for the feedback :) The thing is I dont know much about the things we saw, I never bothered to read up on the tourist guides. I just enjoyed looking at it all.

very beautiful
