The Romanian winter is very very cold so what could anyone with a few extra days in Bucharest do to escape the low temperatures? Visit the Therme, of course! I know that this is not a cultural must-see or anything like that, however this place is totally worthy of a few hours (or the whole day). The Therme (https://therme.ro/) is outside the city center, on the same direction of the Airport but they provide free buses in many stops throughout the city to take you there, all you have to do is check the timetable and be there!
The therme has 3 ''areas'': Elysium, The Palm and Galaxy. The prices vary according to each one you choose and on how many hours you want to stay. I Chose to stay for the whole day in the Palm and the price was 66RON (about 14.5euro) heads up to the students out there, take your student cards and you will get a discount
When I actually saw the place, I was amazed. They have palm-trees and flowers around the pool with beach chairs all around, some jacuzzis on the sides of the pool that made me feel like I was laying on a Caribbean beach. Oh, and there is also an awesome pool bar! Yes, you read it right: a bar inside the pool where you can drink cocktails while swimming or simply sitting there in the water!!
You can also swim to the outside part of the spa, which has the outdoors heated-pools. When I was there I even had the spectacular view of a frozen lake (I think in the summer it is a nice spot to tan and just hang-out):
Back inside, they have the ''rainforest'' sauna, hydromassage beds and 3 types of aromatherapy pools: with salt from the dead sea, lythium baths and calcium and magnesium. They also have a restaurant in case you get too hungry after all the relaxation and they have all kinds of food: noodles, pasta, lasagna, meat, sides, soups, deserts, etc.
Now you would think that everything would be very expensive inside this therme as it is kind of far away from everything and you cannot really go out to eat, drink, etc, right? I thought so to, however they prices were very average for Romania. In fact, the price of the drinks and cocktails were even cheaper than some of the restaurants in the city center.
In the evening, the place the pools light up with lights of different colors and they have DJs playing music by the pool. It feels like a real party!!
In the end of the day, you can just take the free bus back to the city center! From Sunday to Thursday they are open all day until 23:30 and they stay until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays. If you have ever been to this Therme, let me know what you thought about it! Is this the type of activity you would enjoy?
1 post a day keeps the doctor a way ;) :P Looks nice!!
haha thank you! I will try to keep posting as often as I can :)
I've been there last summer and it's amazing! An entire mini-city to escape and relax. Ultra cool! Have you seen something like this anywhere else?
