I lived for over 10 years in Ecuador; a country located on the equator line. I worked for several years as a tour guide and I was lucky to see some of the best places in the country. Traveling in Ecuador is easy. The country is relatively small compared to its neighbors Colombia, Peru and close by Brasil and most places of interest are easy to reach within a day traveling by bus or car. By airplane, it takes only half an hour to get from Quito (capital) to Guayaquil (main port).

- The Cotopaxi volcano (5.897 m)
- The Altar mountain (see first picture)
- The coast (Julcuy - Machalilla).
In the summer, the coast is great for whale watching!
