B&W PHOTO CONTEST - View from the observation tower the Kazan Kremlin (Entry 1)

in #travel6 years ago

Hi! This is my first entry for the B&W PHOTO CONTEST of this week.

I photographed this panorama a year ago during my trip to the city of Kazan (Russia).

In 2005 the millennium of Kazan was celebrated.

This city is very interesting due to its combination of several cultures in architecture.

Since this city originally belonged to the Kazan (Tatar) Khanate, there were and still are many buildings belonging to the Muslim culture.

However, later Kazan was conquered by the Russian Tsar Ivan the Terrible. And the city began a new era in history - in the Russian kingdom.

After this conquest in Kazan was built a new white stone Kremlin (part of the wall and towers which is visible in the panorama).

So Kazan acquired a large number of Slavic architecture.

By the end of the 18th century the city became an educational and cultural center of the Volga region. As a result, many modern secular architecture appeared in the city.

If we talk about today, thanks to the efforts of the authorities, restoration and maintenance of old buildings, as well as the construction of new ones, takes place.

The historical center of Kazan is very beautiful. In the heart of the city is still located Kazan Kremlin.

While visiting the Kazan Kremlin, I went up to the observation tower, which is located on one of the walls of the Kremlin and photographed the panorama.

In this panorama you can see: modern large mosque Kul Sharif; to the right of it a historic building in which museums are located now; to the left of the mosque there is a wall of the Kremlin, above which one of its towers; more to the left is a modern walking area; and a little further is the modern circus building; in the distance, the Kazanka River is visible, beyond which there is a modern multi-storey part of the city.

On this day I was very lucky with the weather. It was sunny and at the same time there were very expressive clouds in the sky. It seems to me that this gives the panorama even more appeal. Panorama is made of four frames with portrait orientation.

I recommend to open the photo in a separate tab to appreciate it.
