The must-see tourist places to visit in the Pearl of the Caribbean in a short trip

Before starting I want to invite you to read my POST where I present one of the islands with the best beaches in Venezuela and perhaps from around the world, at the end of the publication you can read my experience on the beach, I hope that like it

September is the best time to visit Margarita. From the first of the month begin the festivities in honor of the Virgin of the Valley with the descent of the image from its camerin located in the high part of the Basilica. In this way we can have it closer to whisper in your ear the petitions and thank you for so many blessings. Personally, I plan to be on the island on the 7th so I can accompany her during her day, on September 8th.

For tourists who have little time to enjoy the attractions of the island, I recommend visiting the most interesting and emblematic places of Margarita that I point out below.

After landing at the Santiago Mariño Airport, the priority is to visit the image of the Virgen del Valle in the basilica. A moment of silence is important to achieve recollection and talk with the mother of Jesus to ask him to intercede before the difficulties we face daily. A souvenir is perfect to give to friends who failed to accompany us on this journey and what better opportunity to buy them in the stalls that are in the vicinity of the church. Taste the delicious empanadas del Valle made with a variety of ingredients and with a thin and crunchy dough is a must. My favorites are those of fish and pepitonas, their taste of the sea captures each one of my taste buds.

To think of Margarita is to think of beaches bathed by the waters of the Caribbean Sea, but the island also has many other charms. When leaving the Valley you can head to La Sierra, the highest mountain on the island, from where you can see a wide and total panoramic view of Porlamar and part of the Maneiro municipality.

This road leads to the state capital, La Asunción, a place full of history. The castle of Santa Rosa opens its doors to visitors to know the place that witnessed the freedom ideals of the heroes of independence. To know up close the difficulties that Luisa Cáceres de Arismendi went through when she remained in her prison deprived of freedom struggling for her dreams of reaching a free Venezuela, is only part of the historical events that can be known in this city. The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption, the Plaza Bolívar, the Museo Nueva Cádiz are other places of interest in this city. Walking through its cobbled streets is to evoke important moments of Venezuelan history.

When it's time for lunch, the capital of Nueva Esparta state is perfect because it has become the gastronomic center of the region. There are recognized restaurants specialized in signature cuisine with varied dishes ranging from meats and fish prepared with traditional products. Guillermina, and Sumito's Langar, are just some.

In the afternoon you can follow the history of the island. An imposing column stands in honor of the heroes of the Battle of Matasiete, on the hill that bears the same name, very close to the Assumption taking the Avenue Luisa Cáceres de Arismendí. To get to the monument can be done through a dirt road.

The next stop is Pampatar. The capital of the Maneiro municipality is a magical place with streets that lead to historical places such as the Castle of San Carlos Borromeo, built by the Spaniards to protect the port from attacks by pirates. The church of Cristo del Buen Viaje with the image of the old man, as his devotees tell him, the lighthouse located in Punta Ballena and the paradisiacal beaches with their leafy palms, are other emblematic places. A different evening is to appreciate a beautiful sunset with pink tones in El Fortín de la Caranta from where the great rock of the Farallón can be seen in the middle of the Caribbean Sea. With a flourish, you can end the day at El Fondeadero restaurant in Pampatar Bay, which offers an interesting menu and an atmosphere enlivened with live music.

A new day begins with many plans and the best decision is to visit some of Margarita's best beaches. Parguito, El Agua, Manzanillo, Pedro Gonzalez and Caribe are the options that are in the northeast area of the island. Some with turbulent waters, others a little calmer, offer crystal clear waters and a fine white sand.

The plan to end this day is to visit the Fort of Galera, in Juan Griego where we can still hear the story of Margarita recited by little ones who interpret a story full of legends with histrionic gifts, while the sun, on the horizon where it joins the sky and the sea, descends until hiding as if it were a big ball of fire burning the landscape during a romantic margariteño sunset.

My experience in Isla of Margarita

In the year 2009 I traveled to the island of Margarita with my friends from the university, where we spent a little vacation leaving school was our farewell to childhood and welcome to adulthood, since those same years we would all go to college.

Something that surprised me when arriving at Margarita's beach was its magnificent landscape and the crystal clear water that could reflect your face in the water, the sand of vanilla color and as soft as the petal of a rose.

It is one of the most magical and charming places in Venezuela, which opens its doors with a lot of love to tourists from all over the world, it has been 9 years since my trip to the beach and I really do not know how that place will be, if has changed or will remain the same.

I was browsing my favorite news page and I saw this publication that talked about the island of Margarita and I call my attention, especially because lately I've been receiving news about some problems that the island has with the issue of electricity that is going light in the whole community for more than 3 days and that is very serious because this community lives on tourism and their community loses money every day in repairs since these power outages have caused their appliances to be damaged.

Margarina has distinguished itself from the other beaches of Venezuela because of its great variety of natural landscapes that have witnessed the arrival of millions of tourists from all over the world, which represent 76% of the tourism's profits for the economy of the country, taking into account that Venezuela in 2009 only lived on the profits from the sale of oil.

This much attracted the attention of former president Hugo Chávez who put his sights on the field of tourism and the island, making bad decisions expropriated many of the hotels on the island, leading to total bankruptcy.

In 2017, 68% of the businesses and 47% of the hotels on the beach closed their doors because they did not have the financial resources to continue working.

This meant that 43% of the people of the island lost their jobs, leading them to leave the island and look for sources of employment in other cities of Venezuela.

This is what generates a SOCIALIST government leads to bankruptcy all business or tourism company to bankruptcy, we went from general 76% of profits to the country in 2009 to spend a general 5% of profits in 2011-2018, this shows that a socialist government is not the key to taking a country forward, on the contrary a capitalist country can generate good profits for a country and millions of people.

I hope you can share this information and that in your countries this type of political models never happen, remember we are the base of any government and we must fight for our rights.

Thank you very much for reading my POST I hope you liked it and come back at the next opportunity.
