The other day, I met up with a very nice and intelligent young man named, "Ilya". A buddy of mine in China name Karl introduced me to Ilya. The two of them met in Chiangmai as they are both cyclists and vegan.
When I met up with Ilya, he had just rode into Hanoi, northern Vietnam from the south. He crossed the Thailand/Vietnam border down south and rode up to Ho Chi Minh City/Saigon, then made his way north to Danang, and onto the Ho Chi Minh Trail, before coming into Hanoi with torrential rains!
He camped along the way and is using a website which I learned about from him, which is basically a "couchsurfing" site for cyclists, which I thought was very cool! Which basically allows people traveling around the world by bicycle to stay at other homes of cyclists for free, granted they do the same! EXCELLENT IDEA I THOUGHT!!!!!! Here it is::
Ilya is off to Hong Kong in a few days and can be reached here if you like: ilya@regenesis.eco
He will then begin his journey into Mainland China. Here is the 3 part interview I did with him here in Hanoi.
Peace,
Big Lance
