Being away on a trip can be exhausting sometimes, especially for someone like me. It’s more tiring when you don’t really plan to go on a vacation and very little budget to go anywhere. But what happens when all of a sudden everybody was forced to go somewhere? As for us, my spouse, son and daughter, we rarely go on vacations, not to say we don’t like it but we tend to get glued to the front of the computers, for most of the time. Well, who doesn’t right?
Everyone has their own excuses from avoiding hassles, festive and school break seasons, public holiday crowds and the like. This kind of mess would make you rather just stay at home. Hours of traffic jam while on the road would be a huge disaster for me. To avoid them is a wonderful thing one can think forward to before they start their trip to anywhere. Because there is nothing fun that can be done if we get stuck in the traffic jams.
Anyways, to avoid our boredom due to the long school holidays, we finally decided to go somewhere. So, last December, my family and I took a short, quick vacation to Penang. Though we’ve been to Penang before, which is the mainland called Seberang Perai but we’ve never been to Penang Island. Once we reached Butterworth, which is the island's main entry point from the mainland, we took the Penang Bridge to cross over to the island. We were so impressed by the view and the structure of the Penang Bridge. The view was so fascinating and breathtaking.
We weren’t expected anything great in Penang since we didn’t really have specific plan on where to head to, it was a spontaneous kinda act, but fortunately we found that Penang is actually such a beautiful place anyone can spend their time with. Luckily our nieces accompanied us and lead the way to several places. Penang island is a full of beautiful tourist place and should not be missed. We definitely enjoyed our time there, especially the Batu Ferringhi beach where my kids enjoyed the most. Surely we will come back for our next trip to Penang. Yay!
Last but not least, on the way back to the mainland we took a ferry ride instead of the Penang Bridge. The service is ferrying both passengers and vehicles to and from the island. Also a new experience to the rest of us, where the 15 minute ferry ride allows us to enjoy the spectacular view of Penang island and serves as a reliable mode of transportation. Surely this has been a great short vacation for all of us.
