How to create stunning HDR photos without buying any software.

If you like my HDR photo and wonder how it was made effortlessly, then read on.

  1. You will need a camera that can do bracketing which means you take a photo with normal exposure, then take a series of photos with -2, -1, +1, +2 EV exposure. For example, my photos from Nikon D800 using bracketing with 5 steps and 1 EV per step:
-2 EV-1 EVNormal+1 EV+2 EV

Technically, you can use exposure control to add/minus exposure time manually. But here is the current list of cameras that can do bracketing automatically in continuous shooting mode.

  1. Copy your photos to your laptop or desktop. Then use Google Photos Backup to sync the photos to your Google photos. Google Photos is completely free for unlimited storage at 16 Million Pixels.

  2. Relax a bit and let Google Photos work its magic to stitch together the HDR photos. You will get a notification in the Google Photos app on your smartphone or via browser on your PC/Mac.

  3. If you like what you see. "Save" them to your Google Photos library and the HDR is yours to keep for free!

Have more great photos? Consider selling them for USD on microstock photo sites. Axon Guru can help automate the selling process for free.

That's really interesting, I had no idea google photos was able to do that. I've traditionally used photoshop, but this sounds way easier.

Other cool Google Photos features are auto animated gif and auto-pano etc. I often take simple HDR photos (2 photos) with my phone, then have google stitch them together as a HDR-Pano.

Very nice

Thanks. I believe technology will eventually automate most routine manual photo editing such as auto cropping, auto-leveling, auto-HDR..
