Hello again,
I'm back with another wonderful place you should visit if you ever want to visit Romania. I'm going to tell you about a road-trip I had last year to one of the many places you can visit if you want to spend some time in the wilds.
I woke up one morning with the urge of leaving the city and with the desire to see something other than concrete. Of course I wanted something that didn't take me a whole day to reach so I picked the closest one to the capital.
7 Steps or "Sapte Scari", as we romanians like to call it in our language, is a canyon within the Piatra Mare mountains. The entrance is made from the Timisul de jos village just 10 km south of Brasov city.
It's not hard to miss, you can ask people or just follow the signs.
I want to share with you a couple of images to let you decide if it's worth giving it a visit or not.
The road to get there is pretty easy but you will need mountain climbing shoes or something that can protect your feet from the rough terrain.
As you can see the road isn't too hard and the climb is not that complicated in most parts. Whole families can visit this place without any issues, so it's friendly and fun.
Ah yes, besides the fresh air and the green view of trees, you can also climb on them for a certain sum of money of course. They give you the necessary equipment and you can walk on lines, climb obstacles, rappel on zip-lines. It's a bundle of fun for a small price too. Just be careful not to hurt yourself.
Some parts are easy to walk on, which make it a fun activty.
When you reach this shed, you're at the entrance of it.
See me there pointing? Yeah, that's where you need to be. Don't stray from the path or else you'll be lost in the woods. Did that one time with some friends, wasn't fun at all, good thing we managed to get back the way we came. It started raining and everyone was swearing and being grumpy. But I'll leave this story for another time.
After about 1 hour of walking on a road through the trees, you can finally see what the fuss is all about. The 7 steps are actually 7 steps that go up into a canyon. Cold, wet metal steps that you have to climb and go to another magical place.
You'll get thirsty, your water canisters will empty or will have warm water by now in them. Don't worry about it, you can just refill with some reinvigorating water from a small cascade within the canyon. After so much effort and sightseeing, this water will give you the strength to go further and explore more of it's beauty.
Don't forget to look up from time to time. But be warned, if you like nature you might have a soar neck from all the splendid images.
The road back is not that hard since you already went through the climbing part, you just have to be careful with your footing and if you find yourself slipping, remember to grab onto the trees. They are everywhere and can be of great assistance.
Of course after a wonderful day of exploring this beauty you have to end it all with a calming sunset.
The place isn't hard to get to, nor is it complicated to climb, but I believe it's worth visiting from time to time with new friends, just to show them this amazing place and watch their reactions all the way.
