A Visit to Freakybuttrue Peculiarium

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

A visit with Krampus. It's turns out we are related.

I had the pleasure of spending the day today with my fellow Steemian and boy-toy, @alexbeyman. We decided to visit this little oddity museum in NW Portland called Freakybuttrue Peculiarim. It has a $5 entrance fee or is free if you come in costume or are accompanied by a very cute dog and/or iguana. We were sans cute pets and costumes so Alex had to fork over some cash so that we could check this place out.

Alex and I have been visiting a lot of places together and he generally blogs about our experiences. I have not been sharing because I didn't want to double up on content. He seems to think it would be ok since we both have very different perspectives. I am more than a foot shorter than him so I definitely have a different perspective on things.

Here I am being groped by a yeti. Or is it a sasquach? Whatever it was, he was surprisingly gentle.

The shop had a lot of weird displays and freaky art projects like this monkey head and undead squirrel.

There were lots of kaleidoscope type gadgets, view finders, a tour inside of a zombie brain and a haunted dollhouse (pictured below).

There was even a casket you could climb into and experience what it would be like to be buried alive. Am I doing this right?

Tucked away in the corner was a small bathtub filled with ice and fake organs and was littered with signs cautioning on the dangers of illegal organ harvesting. I intend to keep a close eye on my kidneys.

Alex and I got separated for a bit and when I finally found him it was too late. The aliens had already spilled his entrails all over their operating table. I'm not sure what they were hoping to find in there other than enchiladas but my guess is that they were just taunted by his Canadian tuxedo and couldn't resist themselves. I know I've had that feeling many times myself.

We had a lot of fun poking around in there and I've got a lot of inspiration for decor of my house. I love freaky and weird things and this definitely falls into both of those categories. I would say it was well worth the $5 but I'm definitely coming back in costume because I'm looking for a good excuse to play dress up.

As for Alex, Godspeed my friend. I could still hear his shrieks from around the block. We can only hope that he bleeds out before the anal probe.
