From the village of Spili to the monastery of Preveli there are several roads, and one of them runs through the Kurtaliotiko gorge.

An observation deck with views of the gorge is located here.

And if from the road the species are rather lifeless, then it's enough to go down to see the real natural beauty of the gorge.

At the bottom the gorge is overgrown with trees and shrubs, the sound of small waterfalls is heard everywhere.

The river is emerald color.

Sometimes the gusts of wind together with the noise of water create a sound as if someone claps their hands, so the gorge is called Kurtaliotiko («kourtala» means «clapping» in Cretan dialect of Greek).
