It is administratively located in the province of Isfahan. It is geographically located on the Zindh Road, with a land area of 190.7 square miles. It has twinned with several cities such as Istanbul, Kuala Lumpur, Lahore, Kathmandu, Venice and St. Petersburg.
The city is characterized by many historical, religious and tourist attractions such as:
Poly Khajo Bridge: Built between 1642 AD and 1667 AD during the reign of Shah Abbas II.
The forty-royal palace is located on the south-eastern side of the Naqshi Jahan Square and was built to symbolize the power of the Safavid kings who ruled Iran. The columns resemble the pillars of Sheehl Sutton, which are characterized by glass mirrors.
The Palace of Hesht Bahisht: Built in the 16th century during the reign of Shah Suleiman II, it features a roof decorated with brickwork and wall panels.
The Mosque of the Shah Abbas: The days of the Safavid rule were built by Ali al-Asfahani, and it is characterized by its walls decorated with colored marble, its artistic architecture, and it is one of the most prestigious mosques in Iran.
Jahan Naqash Square: It is characterized by a rectangle shaped in the middle of a basin that looks like a great lake.
Other landmarks: Shahristan Bridge on the eastern side of the city, the Ali Qabu Palace on the western side of Naqshi Jahan Square, and the Mosque Mosque known as Isfahan Mosque Mosque
