Hello Steemians,
Today I'm going to share with you a cheap, simple and satisfying local dish called Nasi Kak Wok. If you are travelling to Malaysia, I suggest that you put this in your itenary to try it out.
Nasi Kak Wok originated for Kelantan, a state up north on the east cost of Malaysia, by a lady name Kak Wook in the 80s. The meal is hot white rice, fried chicken chopped in small pieces, some curry (they call it Gulai here) and some sambal. Then all this is mix and wrap in wrapping paper. So the curry, sambal and the oily chicken all mix up in the wrapper giving it the unique taste. Its gonna a bit spicy because of the sambal, and its cheap too !
Due to its popularity, it grew outside of Kelantan. In Kuala Lumpur you can find in many locations. My favorite is in Dengkil near Cyberjaya and Putrajaya. So if your staying around that area, I would recommend this place.
The place is called Warisan Kak Wok. What I like here is that the fried chickens is served hot out of the wok. So when you walk in, you can expect hot crispy oily chicken bits. They have 2 option, a normal portion or the large portion of everything. I always go for LARGE.
So you queue up next the hot wok, they will pack the rice for you.
Hot crispy fried chickens .. yummy !
Then they pour some curry, sambal and some cucumbers. Then you just spread it out on the table and dive in. I strongly recommend to use your hand for this meal. It will much more satisfying.
When your done, wrap it up and throw it away.
