St. John of Nepomuk

Of all the statues on the Charles Bridge, Prague, this one is one of my favourite. It’s the statue of St. John of Nepomuk ( Jan Nepomucký). Apparently, he was the priest that took the Bohemian queen’s confessions during his life time. He was drowned in the Vltava River because he refused to snitch on the queen. He is considered the first martyr of the Seal of the Confessional because of this. He is also seen as the saint protector against drowning and floods.

I took this photo on my visit to Prague years ago with a Canon 350D and a Canon 50mm F1.8 lens.
