Several friends have mentioned to me that countries that were freed from the Soviet Union are great travel destinations - interesting historical landmarks, natural beauty, excellent food and accommodation - all at reasonable prices. Croatia gets frequently mentioned. Will bookmark this post for reference when I plan my visit there. Thank you!
