Genting Highlands is a world-famous hill resort which averages elevated at 1,740 metres (5,710 ft) within the Titiwangsa Mountain range between the states of Selangor and Pahang in Malaysia. Image Source
Genting Highland has become a small city which is filled with many different hotels, attractions & entertainment, dining & lifestyle, shopping, event & function hall, and casino as well. All these have attracted approximately 20.2 million visitors in 2016 and generated about 19,000 workforces as of 31 Dec 2016.
Brief History of Genting Highlands
Genting Highland was once an unmanned mountain called Gunung Ulu Kali at Pahang which was then developed by Genting Group leading the team was the owner, Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong after obtaining land approvals of 12,000 acres and 2,800 acres of land from the Pahang and Selangor State Government between years 1965 and 1970.
Construction begins in August 1965 with an early phase of opening access road in 4 years from Genting Sempah to the peak of Gunung Ulu Kali, which was then completed by March 1969 with an opening ceremony by YTM Tunku Abdul Rahman, Malaysia's first Prime Minister.
After the completion of road access, development of the first hotel in Genting Highlands begins which was then completed in 1971 and called Highlands Hotel (now renamed as Theme Park Hotel). The entire development was funded by the private sector without any assistance of the Government and a gaming license was given to help accelerate the development of this remote area.
The expansion went on and on ever since then, to read more about the Genting's historical background, please visit here or view the timeline development of Genting Highland, please check out this PDF here.

As of the above mention, First World Hotel got an upgrade expansion with another additional hotel tower on its 2 tower lineups making it a 3 tower available to cater 7,351 rooms. Given a few free selection choices of room, we've picked the Y5 Triple Room.
Genting Resort is South East Asia first to install automated self-check-in and out kiosk throughout the main lobby and alley access to each tower to speed up and smoothen the process flow as front desk reception isn't quick enough to cater the overwhelming large crowd of tourist for their check in and out.

Self Check Out Kiosk
The whole check-in process can be easily done within 5 minutes using Passport or Identification Cards, and check out process is just a merely 4 seconds to return the room key back to the kiosk.
Y5 Triple Room
Our room is located in Tower 3 of First World Hotel which is a small walk of 3-5 minutes to reach from the main lobby. The room is about 180 square feet in space averagely, it's very well equipped and a nice view as well.
The room is fitted with a Queen and Single sized bed to occupy 3 adults, the ceiling fan was provided and yes, there's no aircond
Flat Screen TV is provided with in-house movies
Toilet was separated in the shower room
Standing shower room with 3 in 1 soap provided, towers, hair dryer and mirror
Mini Fridge, Safebox and space for hanging your clothes on the hanger provided
Kettle, Cups, Tea & Coffee Pack and Tissue was provided complimentary, any additional Tea & Coffee pack can be purchased at the vending machine located near the main lobby.
Mountain View with Cold Breeze wind blowing into the room, free air cond!
Another angle of view
Wifi is also available on each floor but it's quite slow, is better to just use your mobile phone and open hotspot using your data plan which it will be faster. Just in case you forget to bring your adapter, there a few built-in USB wall adapter that you can instantly plug in your cable and cable which is very convenient.
Overall, the room is clean, neat and it's free so I can't demand anything more. Hopefully next month there's another free room for a night and who's up for a Genting trip? I'll cover more on the shopping and dining area on my next trip 😉

have you heard about the ghost story of Genting?
Yea a lot of version 😅..
Another great hotel review! Good views from the room, but we're not sure about the colour and patterns for the exterior of the hotel. Doesn't blend in with the scenery, it actually kinda spoils it. Still, let's speak of the positive things: clean, modern and accommodating hotel. 😊
✈️👫
Thanks @travelling-two, yea the colour is a bit off haha, we were talking about it on the lift as well because it's all yellow 😂 must be the designer's favourite colour.
Yup, newly renovated 😉 looks awesome like new hotel
