That's a good explanation. Reputation is valuable and it's easy to lose if people think you are abusing the system. A good reputation shows you are serious. I'm amazed how well I've done.

/me points at the Guru. :-)
Aw shucks :) I'm just an over-enthusiastic amateur.
You should wear a tee shirt saying:
"My name is Ozymandias, king of kings look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!"
Just call me Ozzy :)
On Steemwhales I'm ranked pretty highly by number of posts, but by reputation and earnings I'm way down. I'm a medium fish in a small lake. It's nice that people come to me for advice, but they can over-estimate my influence and knowledge. If/when Steemit gets to millions of users I'll just be one of the herd.
In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king. :-)
It is easier for a rich man to enter a camel than... Something
I'm rubbish at quotes
And that was certainly rubbish.
A guru in our midst! Thanks for the support @steevc :) Reputation is an interesting metric that Steemit provides. It's just one mechanism but does provide an interesting scorecard for others to see / interpret.
I do check the reputation of people who comment on my posts. If it's low then I may try to help them unless they are abusing the system
used to think that people who have been in the system for a year + are then allocated with rep of 60+ and the higher your rep the higher your steempower, thanks for making it clear as well, it all depends on once contribution to steemit
I don't have as much SP as some. I have posted a lot and people seem to like what I write.
wow seriously? probably the things you write are usually original, that just goes to show that it is good to be original
Maybe it's because people fear repercusions? Just guessing but a whale can tank someone in a matter of a few flags. Sounds more like an oligarchy than a democracy or am I wrong? I hope I'm wrong.
With your reputation @steevc and @sndbox as well, you guys have been proving you are taking this serious .
Greeting from a puberty rep... ;)
