RE: Facebook is trying to UNPERSON Tommy Robinson

Welcome to Steem Tommy and thanks for using @steempress! I'm sure the Steem blockchain and our SteemPress service can help you communicate your thoughts and engage with your real followers without fear of censorship.

I remember well when the first terrorist attack happened in Paris, and my Facebook feed was filled the following week with related content from different media channels and political pages that I was following at the time. So many where rushing to be apologetic of Islam, denying any connection between it and any form of terrorism. I lost count of how many times I saw the infamous CNN interview with Reza Aslan, or comments about how there is zero connection between the contents in the Quran and what Islamists believe, or that Muhammed did nothing but teach peace and tolerance.

I could not help but reply to some that although I have no belief that all Muslims are "bad" people, or believe a fraction of what ISIS or other jihadist groups believe, it was still factually incorrect to state that Muhammed was only peaceful, or that there is nothing within Islam that can be interpreted to inspire violence.

I was surprised to find myself banned for I believe 48 hours for leaving such a comment. I mean, I even went to great lengths to distance myself from those wanting to equate Islam and violence, or brand Muslims as terrorists. But still, only suggesting that maybe there is some connection between certain doctrines and behaviors got me banned.

It was then I really understood how important a free and open social media really is. So thank you for being a front figure for the fight against censorship. I may not always agree with you, but I appreciate the effort you put in to give people a voice.
