Ocean of Tears

Boy do you hear?
How much I need you here?
Don't want to live in fear,
I wish you are safe, my dear.

I can't battle the distance
If I would, I'd grab the chance.
I'd walk, I'd fly.
Everything I would try.

Oh these tears I cry,
It can never run dry.
My heart feels so blue
Baby this is true.

To you for years, I long.
To you, promised I belong.
I'd swim this ocean of tears,
That separates us for years.

We sacrificed
to make our future better.
They criticized
We'll be a torn, forgotten letter.

But we proved them wrong
We only grown strong.

Soon please come back,
You're the only one I lack.
To you, I'd keep my faith.
Forever I will wait.

The story behind this poem is about us. My boyfriend/fiance' is living in Canada while I'm here at the Philippines. It will take 3 to 4 years more before we meet each other again. We've been together for almost 4 years. We survived through a strong communication, trust and support for each other. Loving someone at the other side of the world is not that easy but you have to stay strong and firm to your promises and goals. This painful sacrifice is only a little thing compared to the upcoming happiness with your loved one someday.

So far, we're still carrying on no matter how hard it is sometimes.
To anyone out there whose love is abroad, don't give up! Just have faith.
We can do this!
