If you like to read, you can make your favourite hobby worth a few Bitcoins each time you turn a page.
I had no idea what was a Bitcoin faucet before today. To be frank, I had no idea what Steemit, blockchain and cryptocurrencies were before last summer. However, I’m learning bit by bit and today, I learned that you can get paid to read! The concept of http://www.paidbooks.com/ is based on the Bitcoin faucet principle.
Here is the Wikipedia definition:
Bitcoin faucets are a reward system, in the form of a website or app, that dispenses rewards in the form of a satoshi, which is a hundredth of a millionth BTC, for visitors to claim in exchange for completing a captcha or task as described by the website. There are also faucets that dispense alternative cryptocurrencies.
So basically, you comply with a simple repetitive task and get a reward out of it. The trick is to find a concept simple, fun and easy enough to make it as addictive as possible. The user gets a cryptocurrency reward and the website makes money through advertising and what not.
Most of the Bitcoin faucets rely on little games, but I found that http://www.paidbooks.com had an idea much more suited to my liking with its hundreds of ebooks available to read. Moreover, they plan to allow users in the future to upload their own ebooks to the website.
How does it work?
- Sign up with your email address and your bitcoin wallet address
- Choose a book from the library and start to read
- You have 5 minutes to read each page. Each page being approximately 330 words long, that’s time enough to read it twice (very slowly!)
- Once the 5 minutes countdown is over, click on the button at the button of the page (NOT "next page")
- A captcha appears to complete
- You access the new page and get the reward in satoshi.
- When you reach 20.000 satoshi, they are delivered every monday on your Bitcoin wallet.
Of course, it can be dreary and dull to read so slowly. Of course, you won't get rich in a week, nor in a month! However, if you have time enough and a job like mine who gives you quite a lot of free time at work, it’s not such a hassle, and if you are going to read one of these books anyway on your iPad... Better get paid to read! Every little bit helps, in the Bitcoin world, isn't it?
Last but not least, you can create referrals for friends and contacts. Here is my referral if you want to give it a try, you are more than welcome to access it from there:
