So religions are hurtful, can we reach that conclusion? Because it isn't only Islam.
Yeah, @atheistrepublic is afterall an atheist organization but @arminnavabi speaks a lot about Islam since he had first hand experience of what it's like to live in Iran (speaking out against Islam or Iran's Supreme Leader is punishable by death over there).
The funny thing is that he used to criticize all religions equally, and the public asked him why he was doing that since Islam is currently the "worst" religion to live under, and now that he is speaking out more about Islam, some people are saying that he should be criticizing all religions equally.
I personally think that the people who make shallow complaints like that aren't listening to him speak anyways, since when he speaks he more or less makes sense most of the time (most people don't) and IMO his critical thinking skills are valuable to atheists and theists alike.
EXAMPLE:
- I don't think you'd be happy about Islam taking over your country and forcing you to convert to Shia Islam. His work can prevent religious people from being oppressed from religions they don't subscribe to.
Thank you for taking the time to discuss these ideas with me. I'll be here if you want to discuss any of @atheistrepublic's content or anything else that comes up 😊
