Thoughts this morning

The world that we live in is a volatile place that has been fought over for the entirety it has existed. There has been very few instances of total peace in the world and there truly never will be. We are plagued by jealousy, greed, and power. These are not new problems and we study them in history class. We write down notes that past rulers only wanted money and not the well being of their nation. We also study how when things were truly this bad we would revolt, stand up to those in power and attempt to create a better future. The enlightenment period is particularly striking. We had profound thinkers who looked at the problems they were facing and formulated opinions, theories, and philosophies to try to understand the chaos at hand. Most of their work wasn't popular when they were alive and the public didn't see their ideas. Now we have the Internet and the World Wide Web so in theory we should only be producing profound thoughts and distributing them to the public. But it seems that we are only concerned with the Kardashians (no hate just a point) or Jersey Shore. These shows can be used for enjoyment and that's wonderful happiness is key but as a society we need to grow towards understanding who we are and what we are. Personally, I think that the world we live in is what we make it. Yes the situation you are born into certainly impacts the development of early life. BUT that doesn't mean you are limited to what is around you. You are the only person that can make decisions for you. YOU decide to go to the gym and work out or you decide to chill on the couch and watch Netflix. YOU decide to challenge authority and implement your own reasoning and ideas not anyone else. We as a human race need to dive deeper and think about what makes us, us. To be continued...
