Over the last few weeks I've gained around 100 followers and I asked about 60% of them why they followed me. Every single one of them told me it was because I commented on their posts...
This tells the story really doesn't it :) I've also been following more accounts of late, the majority have been popping into my posts and leaving comments of note.
It is without doubt, the best way to earn new followers.

It's a simple strategy yet one people seem unwilling to deploy. I hope my post reaches a few and some join the EL though. One has already commented here that they are going to join, so a few more will be nice.
