However, it’s now been six months, and I’m still waiting for that promise to be fulfilled. The anticipation has turned into disappointment as the wait drags on with no clear timeline in sight. Tesla recently announced that self-driving capabilities would be rolled out in the coming weeks, but at this point, it feels like false advertising.
What adds salt to the wound is knowing that new Cybertruck owners will soon be able to get their base model with the same self-driving optionality—without the months of waiting that early adopters like myself have endured. Yes, they’ll still have to pay for the feature, but they won’t have to wait as long as we did. It’s frustrating to think that I paid a premium for something that has yet to materialize, while others will enjoy the same benefits without the prolonged wait.
I still love my Cybertruck. It’s an incredible vehicle with a design and functionality that’s truly unique. But this experience has been a hit to my perception of the brand. Tesla is known for innovation and pushing boundaries, but the handling of this situation has left me questioning the integrity of their promises.
Waiting for self-driving has been more than just a delay—it’s been a test of patience and trust in the brand. I’m hopeful that the feature will finally be delivered as promised, but the experience has left a lingering sense of disappointment that’s hard to shake.
