Telegram might be the killer app for the next 1 billion crypto users

in #telegram5 months ago

I've always imagined that the killer app for crypto would be a decentralized application with crypto deeply embedded in its roots. Telegram is neither a crypto app by its roots nor decentralized, but it does have two things: Flexibility and TON.

Recently, a report surfaced of a simulation game of building a crypto exchange based on Telegram and TON reaching 100 million users in 2 months, the game in mention is Hamster Kombat.

Notcoin as some of us know, had a huge success launching with 35 million users, airdropping over 80 billion coins to users and yet, traded at a relatively decent price. This tap to mine project set the stage for what is now an industry trend and projects like Hamster Kombat are proving how limitless it is once you have a platform of such flexibility and support to work with.

The numbers, across these projects are insane, the linked report made an interesting comparison of this growth with that of ChatGPT, a fuckin artificial intelligence chatbot with billions of dollars investment backings.

Why are these projects scaling effectively and also making it appear effortless?

Well, it goes back to two things as previously mentioned.

Telegram is Flexible

Microsoft’s Copilot, a generative AI-powered tool that can generate text as well as answer specific questions, is now available as an in-app chatbot on Telegram, the instant messaging app.

Currently in beta, Copilot for Telegram allows you to talk with the AI chatbot as if you’re having a normal, one-on-one conversation with a friend. It can also answer a wide range of questions, from general knowledge queries like “What movie should I watch?” to questions such as “What baseball game is on right now?” The feature was first spotted by Windows Latest.

The bot can be accessed by searching its username, @CopilotOfficialBot. It’s free for Telegram users and available on both mobile devices and desktop. One caveat is that it requires your phone number.

Telegram is capitalizing on something that isn't widely available across top social media platforms and that is flexibility.

When I say flexibility I mean ease of use for end users and also for developers. A lot of people do not currently understand how big a deal it is that Telegram is literally evolving into an ecosystem of an endless list of diverse problem solving applications and many of those will be crypto-powered or integrated.

The developer environment of Telegram is not only friendly but also filled with opportunities for growth. So you have an application users can easily sign up in a few seconds using a phone number and from this point, have access to a vast number of applications.

And the crazy part is that these apps feel quite unique and independent even whilst running within Telegram. Of a surety, this is great power being given to Telegram, but it serves as a gateway for a lot more and that's a big merit. Telegram reportedly sees over 800 million monthly users, so it is without a doubt, a big network to capitalize on.

Already, there's a wave of projects from different ecosystems already doing that and it might just keep growing.

TON

Ton was not very famous until Notcoin came along, and USDT also launched on Ton with zero fees.

TON means The Open Network, originally called Telegram Open Network as it was developed by the team at Telegram until it faced legal battles if my memory serves me right, so the team had to distance itself from the project.

Nonetheless, it remains a blockchain designed to integrate with Telegram and serve its ecosystem. Evidently, it's handled things recently pretty well and would soon experience more volumes with Hamster Kombat and other waves of projects onboarding millions to crypto.

TON is a welcoming ecosystem. I've listened to spaces, read a bit about the foundation backing the project and projects launching on TON, and assessed the community and I can just say that it's a pretty awesome ecosystem at this point. This is not financial advice but TONCOIN is looking attractive amidst all this growth.

Safe to say that TON is what makes Telegram positioned to be the Killer Crypto App as it integrates with the messenger and enables the wave of users to be easily on-boarded onto the world of crypto and blockchain technology.

It is applaudable what is being done in the TON and Telegram ecosystem as I've noticed heavy focus on “education” in all that is being developed, which is pivotal for users getting into this space.

With great crypto education, we as an ecosystem become unstoppable.

Telegram is now an ecosystem, bigger than a messenger, the everything app perhaps, and the crazy part of what makes it accommodating to everything is the very thing that is lacking in social networks trying to be the everything app like X.

X is not blockchain-integrated and definitely far from flexible. Telegram just got a major advantage with the future of money and business, hopefully they don't fuck it up.
