Ever wanted to just jump in your own helicopter and zip across the sky to grab a quick coffee with your buddy?
With the SureFly personal helicopter from Workhorse, that might not be such a ridiculous fantasy.
With a price of around $200,000, this beast is a lot less expensive than a traditional helicopter.

Holy guacamole batman.. that's awesome! Have you seen the videos of the solar powered one man plane that went around the world?
Actually here's a better video
I do think we'll see a lot more things like this over the next few years. It's exciting that we live in an age where so many inventors across the globe are exploring the limits of technology and creativity.Very interesting! As price comes down and range increases and my wallet get fatter we'll count me in!
Ok, now I want one.
I was wondering when this will finally happen, as it is something I anticipated years ago.
But then again, $200k seems a bit steep for a sized-up quadcopter with a cabin...
This Hover Bike thingie promises similar for much less (around $48k)...
It is essentially a dual propeller hovercraft. Early specs I read somewhere talked about 170 miles per hour travel, and max altitude of 3 km / 10k feet. Perfect for avoiding rush hour traffic. :)
I don't think a lack of cabin would be perceived as a big minus (safety wise at least - you are dead anyhow if you drop from few dozen meters or higher), and you wouldn't go fly in bad weather anyhow. But it might have a strong appeal for motorcycle drivers...
Can't wait when their webshop at http://www.hover-bike.com will start accepting orders...
Would you want one?
I am wondering whether countries will ban usage or insist on having a full pilot's licence :)
Sweet beast!
I want one!! Pretty cool.
