I'll be upfront as I think this is important. Don't update to iOS 11 yet if you are prompted to on your iPhone, iPad or iPod. It has some serious battery draining issues along with numerous bugs at the moment. Try and wait for at least the 11.1 release.
Also, if you run older legacy apps that have not been updated by the developer in awhile, they will no longer work. I believe you can check which apps that you have installed that will be affected under Settings > General > About > Apps in iOS 10. If you do upgrade and something goes wrong or you just don't like the update, you will not be able to go back to 10.
Updating software is always a bit risky on any type of computer especially if everything is running smooth and the you need the device for work or other critical tasks. Always perform a full backup of the phone or computer before updating your phone, computer or tablet. Happy computing!
