New research from RMIT University has revealed that the vibrations from the car when driving increase drowsiness.
The study has shown that it takes just 15 minutes for the vibrations to cause the driver to be less alert and more sleepy. By the 30 minute mark the drivers' drowsiness was significant.
Researchers from RMIT hope that this research will help inform car seat manufacturers, and create a safer driver experience. The researchers are aware that 'drowsy driving is a significant issue for road safety' both in Australia and around the world.
The study was performed in a simulator and measured the participants heart rates.
