RE: What's it Like to be a Cyborg? My First Implant (And My Next)

in #technology7 years ago

Didnt't even know you could use implants to "cure"/help with hearing problems.

"Suddenly the fact that every person who notices it expects you to describe the details of how it works and its tech specs to you like a salesman becomes very obnoxious indeed. I was happy to the first few times, as I am happy to write one article about it, but it gets old pretty fast."

Well the cool thing about telling "stories" over and over and over .. is, that you get better after every time.
Than the time comes, when the "story" is perfected and you can fluidly tell every detail needed in the shortest amount of time.

quick question, do you have to swap the Infinium with a new one after a while, or is it for a lifetime ?

Infinium is just the name of the chip inside it. The device itself is called a Ponto Plus Power. It is optionally upgradeable and probably some day there will be affordable options for doing that. The titanium socket it attaches to will shift slightly over time as my skull changes shape due to aging, and may need to be re-seated in 5-10 years.
