Wifi is an acronym for wireless fidelity, wireless LAN that is certified by WiFi Alliance. Where wifi technology can provide wireless internet access in certain zone zones with a certain distance. The term wifi is also known as a hotspot.
You could say wifi is the latest technology to replace wireless LAN. The difference is a single wireless LAN (local area network) does not have a certification from the WiFi Alliance. Whereas wifi is certified by the IEEE 802.11 wifi platform.

Understanding WiFi

WiFi is a communication technology that uses radio technology on wireless LANs with a sequence of deployments using direct sequence spread spectrum radio technology and Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing radio technology. So that WiFi is a wireless LAN device that acts as a bridge between wireless devices.
A WiFi hotspot is a place for wireless internet access providers in Wireless LAN mode to a computer network. The single router used is to provide a connection to the internet network.

The hotspot concept itself was popularized by Brett Stewart, but even so Brett Stewart also proposed the term hotspot is Wireless LAN. This statement was revealed at a conference at the Moscone Center, San Francisco in August 1993 ago.

The existence of this wifi hotspot makes people feel more comfortable in getting internet access. So the use of wifi hotspot has spread widely to various places such as offices, shops, malls, schools, universities, coffee shop stalls to other public places.
This is because the wifi hotspot is the best solution and easy to remember beforehand if they want to get internet then they have to have a computer and then connect the wireless LAN on their computer and then just wait for the wireless LAN to connect automatically to get an internet signal.

with hotspots, they no longer use wireless lan and connect it to a computer because it is enough to turn on the wifi feature, you can access the internet even through any device such as a gadget, smartphone or laptop that supports the wifi feature.

History of WiFi Technology Development

WiFi Technology Development
History Wifi began in 1985 pioneered by American engineers in the use of radio spectrum deployment technology on Wi-Fi. Wireless LAN or known as Wifi which was made in 1985 without a license certification from the federal communications commission. This wifi is used publicly in the United States.

But the initial proposal to use Wireless LAN using radio technology in general was actually put forward first by Michael Marcus in 1980. Even so, having to wait 5 years, this wifi can only be made and used publicly in other countries.

Types of WiFi Specifications

The design of Wi-Fi technology is based on the IEEE 802.11 specification regulations which up to now consist of four variations of various types of wifi specifications from 802.11, which are:

How the WiFi Network Works

How to work wifi using radio waves with wireless LAN from a computer and supported by a wireless router. In addition, Wofi's performance was also added by an adapter to receive digital computer data. After the data is received then this data is converted in the form of radio waves sent to the router through the antenna to produce a router decode signal and then send it to the internet.
