I am really starting to prefer Linux...

penguin.PNG It makes me feel like some kind on 1980's super-geek. I just realized that you can shut the node down through the cli with: shutdown -h now . I know it is really an elementary command that I probably heard somewhere some time ago but there's no need for buttons or a mouse. I am a flightless bird......

There are some really wonderful and exceptional about Linux, but even cmd.exe can shut down.

I am familiar with Windows and know Linux does the regular stuff, but does Win "grep"? Probably so but I haven't used that in Win, so I am liking Linux the more I learn. It is slow learning for me, but I am doing it....

Linux wouldn't be Linux if there qouldn't be any alternatives for this command. If you have a distro with Systemd try this:
sudo systemctl poweroff

systemctl has some more options here like hibernate/sleep etc. Arch-wiki is very helpful here.

Thanx. We're going to get the grade in this class and probably take more Linux! (The class is totally not relevant for us, but it's fun)
