Hurtigruten Norway (a Norwegian coastal ferry service and cruise line) intends to build a ship powered by the sun and wind.
The ship will be powered by 60 MWh batteries that do not contain cobalt and with a minimum amount of Nickel. The battery capacity is to be 300-350 miles thanks to, among other things, excellent optimization of resistance to movement in water and jet engines hidden in the housing.
In addition, the ship will be equipped with folding, rigid sails covered with solar batteries with a total area of 1500 m2.
There will be 270 cabins on board, heated or cooled by smart heat pumps. In total, the ship can host about 500 guests and 100 crew.
Commissioning of the ship is planned by 2030.
