The Monster is Unleashed!

Nvidia has just released their flagship gaming GPU: The GTX 1080 Ti. The card under the spotlight is the Pascal architecture based GPU, and is faster than the previously released GTX Titan X (Pascal) flagship, making the 1080Ti 'The Fastest GPU in the World'.

Specifications -

The reference version of the GTX 1080Ti is powered by one 6-pin and one 8-pin power connectors, with a 220W TDP. The GPU is based on the GP102 Pascal based chip, which features 3584 Cuda Cores, 224 Texture Units, and a clock frequency of 1.6Ghz. It offers 11GB of the latest GDDR5X memory clocked at 11Ghz, memory bus of 352-bit, resulting in a bandwidth of 484GB/s. The GPU will cost $699.

The reviews of the GPU just went online. Here's a nice performance summary of the card at 4k resolution (Courtesy of Techpowerup.com)

Conclusion

Seeing the results. It is clear that Nvidia has got a winner on their hands, but you can help but feel sorry for the early adopters of Titan X (Pascal). Nvidia has basically rendered the Titan X obsolete by bringing in the 1080Ti at approximately half the price. The price, however, is still very high at $699 for average consumer, but thankfully it doesn't target the average consumer which will be more than happy with a GTX 1080 or the GTX 1070. But, If you want the absolute top tier 4K 60FPS performance, and price is not an issue for you, then this card is for you.

Oh dear, the mining wars are getting hotter.

Indeed, they are! This GPU will offer very nice performance/ dollar and perf/watt on algos like Lyra2rev2, equihash etc
