I decided to start blogging about innovations that I find interesting and that deserve more attention.

I will start this series with Ki ecobe, a new kind of shoe that is completely modular.

Yes, you can design your own footwear with:

It is unlikely that your neighbor would have the same shoe design. Finally!

Since its parts are interchangeable, it helps reduce waste and pollution. You don't have to replace the whole shoe if you managed to poke a hole in it or if you get sick of how it looks. You just have to buy that particular component. Definitely cheaper than buying a new pair of shoes.

It aims to put an end on mass production of footwear in Asia that creates sweatshops and endanger the health of factory workers by exposing them to chemicals. These shoes only take about 5 minutes to produce and without any toxic adhesives compared to normal manufacturing that takes 3x as many people and 6x longer time.

Check out its kickstarter page. It already passed its $30,000 goal and still has 21 days to go. You can also visit its website to learn more.

This is a really cool idea, the shoes look simple and fun.

Yes it is. I can't wait for this kind of technology to take over the footwear industry.
