Indeed. This greatly reduced the time to market. Previously this was done by carving wood or styrofoam blocks. A small design change meant everything needed to be redone. Now, just tweak the design in the software and hit print.
I can't wait until the larger printers come down in cost or at least the parts to make them. Not sure if you'd seen the houses being made but figured these are worth a share. The first is of a guy that made a cool castle in his back yard and the other is company in China that made a mansion from 3d printing.
Indeed. This technology started out as a prototyping application. But now it is advancing into the manufacturing sphere. I don't think it will completely replace traditional manufacturing in the near future. But it will nicely augment it.
