Microsoft has learned that some devices running Windows Update April 10 (version 1803) can hang or freeze when running certain applications, such as 'Hey Cortana' or Chrome, "the software giant said in a statement on his support site.
The fix for this problem is expected to be quickly completed and included in the next regular Windows 10 update, scheduled for release on May 8, 2018.
While waiting for the cure, Microsoft offers the following as a temporary solution, if the computer hangs:
- Try the Windows key combination to "wake up the screen". How, press the "Windows + ctrl + shift + b" (without quotation marks) simultaneously.
If using a tablet, press the up volume and volume down button simultaneously 3 times within 2 seconds.
If the system can still respond, a short beep will be heard, and the screen will blink or lower the brightness level.
- For laptop users, try closing and reopening the device screen.
